Meet Nuclear Escalation: Vietnam!

So even when I’m manuring sharply 5km away from the shilka and they hit me I’m supposed to believe that the shilkas are just firing with their “pretty straight trajectory” ?

pretty much all AAs ranges are fucked, ie way outside the actual lead indicator range that shows up for players due to how the AA AI is programmed

You can believe whatever you want. That’s my opinion. And yes the bullet will follow a straight line. The bullet is not steerable after its left the barrel. Unless it is a smart bullet that can be steered then its going to follow a straight line.

cough cough DARPA cough cough

I wouldn’t bother engaging with people claiming the AA is balanced. It’s contrary to reality’s dictate and thus not really a position you can engage with using sound reasoning.

Been hit by them out to 8km through maneuvers, primarily m163. Had m163 intercept low altitude bombs dropped in numbers, had it intercept a full payload of atgms fine. As it stands, they are inherently excessively effective as they use the same behaviour as AA like gepard. At best, the interlocutor you’re engaging with primarily played blue, which provided a far easier time striking targets as the pact SAMs are a joke and do not pose a threat to consider alongside gun spaa.

yeah for some reason the HAWKs and the S75 are super easy to kill if you know how but the M163s and shilkas will just delete you from existence IMO they should make it so AA dont shoot the missiles unless they are within there FOV

the m163 and shilka will also tank a mk13 1000lb bomb landing on their heads quite often. to actually kill them im having to microwave them with 5KT of uranium

I’d still like to see a return of the strategic bombers. Also more maps. Had fun playing this aside from the laser beam AA and weird nation mashes.
So Korean War next? I’d love to take out the jet bombers.

MiG-21F-13 wasnt only one MiG-21 which was in Vietnam war. Not even the most widespread one. MiG-21PF/PFL/PFM was. In 1970 they got even MiG-21MF. But we understand what your point. I think the USA should definitely get the F-4E as F-4C is literally unusable.

Of course, the exact same machines from the Vietnam War will never be there—that’s practically impossible (its more Vietnam era what also Gaijin stated in their page although even that isn’t entirely accurate, since we are with some vehicles and armament in early 1980s). But the balancing could have been significantly better. As previously mentioned, adding the F-4E would be a good move.

can we please ban planes with lookdown and all aspect missiles cus every lobby is just MIG-23 MIG-23 MIG-23 MIG-23 MIG-23 MIG-25 MIG-25 MIG-25 MIG-25 doesnt help that they moved the Ayit up for some fucking reason even tho its just a worse A-10 for some reason gaijin thinks NATO isnt allowed to have F-4E JA37C but russia is allowed the MIG-25 and MIG-23 with NO counters from NATO

dont worry, its historically accurate!

Can’t fly off the carrier, fix this bug.

incorrect the F-4E did serve in vietnam yet for some reason gaijin thinks it shouldnt be in the mode

They should never have named this test run as “Nuclear Escalation: Vietnam”. It’s just Nuclear Escalation like in the previous iterations, but with a lower BR bracket, and BRs themselves are not balanced based on when X aircraft came into service.

Now we have a ton of complaints of people like you thinking it was going to be some historical thing.

oh my bad didnt realize the fact that russia get all aspect missiles lookdown and radar missiles while america has some 20G ir missiles was by design so when are we having the roles reversed where america has F-4Js with AIM-9Ls? oh right we fuckin wont

your saying that its balanced based on capability’s when its clearly not if it was balanced based on capability’s then i dont see why we couldnt have the F-4E it would trade its lookdown and all aspect missiles for more countermeasures the viggen would be somewhere in between where it has less countermeausers than the F-4E and no all aspect missiles like the MIG-23 but it retains its lookdown

You seem to have missed my point.

If you have a specific problem with BR balance of 10.0-11.0 aircraft, that’s a Air RB BR bracket problem, not a Nuclear Escalation problem lol.

Next nuclear escalation make it non nuclear just to test it.
Nukes just make the game BS. It was fun for April fool’s , but for a perma game mode that you design things around it , it messes the game too much. It’s not fun , it’s not good at all and if it gets released with it , people won’t really stick with the mode…

the balance of that bracket is not the problem in normal matchmaking MIG-23s and F-4Es would face each other completly fine no matter up or down tier but now gaijin has lowered the BR for nuclear thunder just enough that the things that would normally counter the MIG-23 and the MIG-25 arnt usable in the mode so you end up getting matchmaking where the capability’s of each nations aircraft are very far apart the fact that this problem is exclusive to nuclear thunder inherently makes it a problem with nuclear thunder
