Meet Nuclear Escalation: Vietnam!

Server desync is pretty bad for the gun SPAA both the m163 and shilka

Yes I have and I’ve played with it though I haven’t got a chance to cherry-pick my stances to state that the jet is too good or too bad for the event. As seen in PhlyDaily’s video they use specifically infrared-guided missiles, it’s a good sign that the R-40RD isn’t as effective as it looks because of ground clutter and lack of ground clutter filter making those exceptionally situational to high-flying targets.

If the 8.0 kill-death ratio is a guarantee in every single match, that’s a problem and Gaijin should remove the MiG-25PD, which sincerly I’ll ask data (I.e. proof, like match leaderboard, etc.) for that statement then I’ll agree with your position to remove the MiG-25PD and/or add a equivalent for that matter. Also I must say that this video is a cherry picking, that’s how content creator contents works, cherry-picked footage for sake of entertainment, it’s not a good source for data.

Definitely isn’t going to multipath since past 1.0 Mach the wings will start to struggle and then rip. Altitude it’s what this jet depends to work properly, and altitude it’s something else during this event unless the individual is capable to notch four launchers at the same time that doesn’t need to reload.

That flare count doesn’t actually matter; it’s still completely generally suitable in an air realistic match when not wasted. It’s a great and underrated plane but the r23 is poor enough to kind of keep it in check at least. Having fun and success with the italian mf one in the small amount I’ve played this event.

honestly there isnt really any aircraft it can see that will also do that speed on the deck with sufficient armaments to actually deal with it unless someone drags a lightning out. Just like in ARB the only way they die is when they do towards someone with an aim-9L. Entirely their fauly

MiG-25PD does not belong in the current iteration of NT. Once they get high and fast there’s nothing anyone can do about it. The only ways to shoot it down are 1) the pilot is stupid enough to get in a close fight with you (has happened a lot to me somehow), 2) you catch them while landing/taking off when they’re slow and can’t run

also F-4E should stay exactly where it is, and the BR brackets should also stay as they are

I’ve had R-40RDs hit me quite close to the ground, it doesn’t seem as affected as all other radars at these BRs

Played it a little myself. It seems r40RDs STILL just sometimes/frequently just phase through targets instead of hitting? This has existed ever since the plane came out whenever it was like a rear aspect shot or any weird sort of lock rather than a “clean” medium+ altitude opponent going toward you.

Can’t believe they haven’t fixed this yet, unless just nobody bothered to report it? Unless im missing something, this has existed ever since the plane came out. I’ve just barely played it since until now.

Well, to be fair, multipathing is the result of signal interference from ground clutter and doesn’t work against a groundside radar because that’s just a LoS check.

There’s also a brief window where they’re attempting to track you before you open fire. There definitely is a desynch issue with which way the turrets face when they fire, as also to where the actual rounds of a burst of tracers.

and being up at 10,000ft= 3048m… which is still within the 3.5km envelope guns will shoot at.

Also, are you actually sure that your RWR can see the radar bands of the systems in question?

How on gods green earth is it genuinely possible for all aspect missiles, MiG 25’s and A10s to be in Vietnam ? How is it possible to have the entire continent of Europe in Vietnam ? Why isn’t that I cannot have my VERY REAL VERY PRESENT F4E phantom in Vietnam but we can have a entire team full of aircraft that either never even existed at the time or never even served in that war? I’m in my gimped, nerfed, and quite lacking f-4c going against a MIG 21 With flares and all aspect missiles. The only MiG 21 that even served in Vietnam was the F-13 but yet here I am fighting a MiG 21bis. This mode is bullcrap and unrealistic and I hate it. You keep up the bs gaijin and I give you a year until you collapse.

and ontop of that the AA STILL FIRE WITH 100% ACCURACY FROM 4KMS AWAY

and i cant even play the nation i want becuase its just
waiting for over 10 minutes cuz the smart people at gaijin decided 11.3 isnt allowed

I do love the mode, but this map is too big for subsonics, and going up against super sonic aircraft with high firerate cannons in an 8.7 plane feels masochistic

BR ranges probably should go in favor of having an allowed vehicle list.

I 100% agree.

  • I’m probably against the masses with this but I don’t think the low range SPAA is that bad, it’s fine. Sure a Shilka running counter munitions is… interesting, but overall it’s easier to engage convoys and ground units since SPAA doesn’t overlap coverage nearly as much and you aren’t getting aim botted by Bradleys/BMP-2s as well.

  • Glad to have Nuke CCRP back, though the level 1 crews again is annoying

  • Airfield defense doesn’t seem to work very well

  • Balance is whack, MiG-25 is absolutely criminal

I was thinking that

I found a way during f4c grind. I just mcm them with aim9 and add vulcan burst on top of that. Sometimes they even get confident enough to not shoot guns.

I am gonna do another yap post so bear with me.

This is being mentioned and I think this would have made the mode significantly for playable. We need a allowed vehicle list. If we are going to stay with specifically Vietnam air combat then having European aircraft completely defeats the point. Along with aircraft like Foxbats, and A-10s. I think having a mode that has Euro, and other nations, aircraft would be fun for everyone. But having this mode tailored for the Vietnam air war is kind of backwards.

Currently from the matches I have played, MiG-23s, MiG-25s, F-4EJs, AJS37s, the MiG-21Bis, and the F-5E have been dominating the air combat. I don’t think simply raising the BR cap to 11.3 will fix this issue, I really think we should have a tailored list of aircraft we can bring to the event. Having an aircraft with no CM going against aircraft with all aspect missiles makes them, not really unplayable, but it certainty isn’t enjoyable.

There is a contradiction to my statement, if it was 100% realistic then it would be a turkey shoot against VPAF aircraft. A MiG-17 going up against a F-4J is pretty much a death wish. So we can’t truly have a 100% accurate Vietnam air war without just breaking the mode. And there is a lot more that the game cannot currently support such as GCI, EW and Washington’s ideas to kill American aviators. What I am trying to get at is that balancing this mode is pretty difficult while trying to retain the “historical” aspect.

But I do think the ultimate solution for this problem would be to have a curated list of allowed aircraft maybe for the Rolling Thunder time frame. Just my $0.02 though.

I also keep bringing this up but it actively needs to be addressed, the Guideline does not work. I played for a couple of hours today and only saw ~15 launches of the Guideline. It will also not intercept munitions such as ARMs. I can see them track it but they just won’t launch at it. The only thing that has intercepted any munitions I have fired are Shilkas. The HAWKs are just as the same before in previous modes. It we keep the Guideline then I would say we replace the HAWKs with a comparable system like Nike Hercules.

Also as far as dropping nuclear weapons, that’s the whole point of this mode and IMO is what makes it so fun. This “What if the cold war went hot?” type of setting is pretty dang fun. However the point system is a little goofy, I would still favor the megaton bombs ending the match like it was originally. I have also gotten direct hits on depots with 5kt weapons and getting 1-2 kills. Also a 30kt warhead didn’t seem to knock out an airfield, it would take 2 of them to do so.

This is my last point and I’ll shut up lol. Kind of unpopular opinion, the SPAA are pretty well balanced IMO. Unlike a missile, the bullets follow a pretty straight trajectory. As you get closer they get more dangerous. However if you constantly jink side to side and perform evasive actions, their threat drops significantly.

Sorry for my yap fests but I feel like there are some major issues with this event.

“Pretty straight trajectory”

Some players cant be saved. And are probably the reason mig25 can still take part in this event.

One thing that concerns me right now is lack of any movement from devs side. Its almost over but there were no significant changes to this mode (or even changes in general). And no explanations, plans, posts. Nothing, just silence.
Maybe they are going to sum things up after event end (most likely). But still it hurts to know that this iteration had plenty of blatant issues and they stayed all the way till the end of event.

What I meant is the bullet isn’t steerable like a missile. And you literally just proved my point lol.

I actually managed to catch one with a AIM-7D a couple of matches ago. He just was at sub sonic speeds and went in a straight line lol.

im getting tired of nuke players dropping it on themselves to kill deny. Its almost as miffing as being laserbeamed by a m163 from 6km again and again and again

its not worth turning yourself into a sailsbury steak over a hunter FGA9, i cant catch you and my missiles are so weak for 9.3 on such a platform you dont even need to turn for them to miss from a 1.5km distance.

now can we actually get some BR brackets that are vietnam and not 1990s trainer jets vs early 70s light fighters?
