Meet Nuclear Escalation: Vietnam!

Airfield SPAA

  • Its incredibly weak. I just had a guy in a Mig-21 pass above it twice, hunting nuke carriers taking off.
I dont think the spaa even opened fire on him.
their reaction time should be faster to combat these low altitude interceptions above the airfield. such a maneuver should be suicide not a viable tactic.

There already is, it’s somewhere in the settings but I think it doesn’t work for events. So unless gaijin fixes that you’ll have to wait (though I have “join battles already in progress” off and haven’t joined midmatch once so idk)

The Rapier, fivehead. When you fire on the radars, the Osa/Rapiers go live and attempt to intercept it. That’s why you then use an ARM on the mid range SAM’s position.

The whole point is that you need to learn how the batteries are designed, work out where stuff is, and shoot in an order that ensure either the close in SAM or the targeting radars are taken out. You can always return later. Alternatively, you can mix in rockets once ARMs are away to hit the close in defenses, or the radars if you do need a follow up. I don’t know what every ARM sees in, but the Rapiers should be searching on F band and shooting on J band if you want to ensure one missile will target a radar or a launcher.

I can only give advice and information on what works for me. I can’t dictate how you use that information unless you break down your actions in a step by step process, or just recording a full attack run so I can break down what may or may not be working for you.

Ultimately, need to stop throwing your face into a wall and instead try doing some investigation on how to attack stuff, but more importantly ask questions. Yes, there’s stuff about the mode that sucks, but we’ve had four iterations of this mode, and I am still getting people who haven’t picked up on stuff like how you are supposed to win or that you can move to a different airfield with the same plane to avoid the timer penalty.

Make it so that search radars for batteries and the EWRs behind the frontline will also display 3D nameplates if you remain in their detection envelope as well as the AEW aircraft.

As for the EWRs, I emptied like 500 20mm rounds into the base and still got nothing. You need an actual bomb to hit the base or the antenna to kill it. It may be because they’re using the old hull break system to log their destruction (if the damage cam is correct).

We had same case but with MiG-23M. He decimated the blue side’s fighters completely undisturbed directly on airfields.

Well. MiG-25PD beating everything there.

Nukes also seem to have this really bad snowball effect where the team that gets them first just gets a massive advantage. I liked the suggestion above where nukes could first go to the team that’s losing creating a sort of catch up mechanic.

Have you see the 25PD in Nuclear Thunder specifically?

It’s demolishing everyone. They go 8+ kills with 0 or 1 deaths.

The other team stuck with rear-aspect missiles means you’re very limited in attacking front to side. Meanwhile Russian missiles are all-aspect.

F-5E is good because it gets EEGS, so the US has 1 decent jet. Meanwhile Russia gets multiple useful jets. So I wouldn’t really call that a valid argument to keep MiG-25PD at 11.0 BR, it really should be raised to 11.3 at the least, even if it means keeping F-4E at 11.3 too.

Nuke SP cost should simply be raised to 600 and 1200 respectively. Right now you can nuke a convoy with the small nuke and earn enough SP to spawn another nuke plane even if you die. It’s way too easy to stack up SP.

Intercepting and destroying enemy nuke planes should also yield a lot more rewards to incentivize interceptors.

I have actually done that successfully against atgm’s with the m163

To me mig25 is more of an 11.3 jet. Orbital strike heat seekers with huge range are a silent killer of the average low flying player and probably even more in a mode like this where people are split up and can’t accidentally flare it. Neither should be allowed though.

whoever said that “oh american spaa are too powerful” are paid by gaijin to say that bs. I JUST DIED BECAUSE SPAA THAT ARE HIDDEN BEHIND TREES, IN A COVER OF TREES, CAN SOMEHOW LOCK ME AND THEN KILL ME 5+KM AWAY FROM THEIR POSITION. AND THEY DONT EVEN FIRE WHEN IM DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THEM, but the SECOND I PASS THEM, They shoot! EVEN WHEN IM MULTIPATHING OR 10000FT UP!

and not only that! BUT I DONT EVEN GET PINGED BY THEM NEITHER OR OTHER SPAA OR SAM BASES OR EVEN PLAYER AIRCRAFT! (not ALL the time but almost 3/4 of the time)

the foxbat is the only plane that isnt trapped trying to multipath hawk missiles. it can fly over them and nobody else can

MiG-25 is a literal brick. It also has no guns, so after it fires its missiles it’s defenseless.
However, it should still be 11.3. Though it also is pretty poorly modelled, missing half its flares, R-40s pulling 20g instead of 15, R-40Ts lacking IRCCM, and the radar being gimped to high hell.
Plus, it has no A2G capability whatsoever which is a bit of a problem for a game mode centered around ground strike.

As for the MiG-23M why don’t you take a quick gander at how many countermeasures they have before saying they’re OP.

Well the SARH is fine because counter measures aren’t required to spoof those but I agree about the all aspect ir f-105 Jaguar su-7 and a few other aircraft versus aim9l and r73 (I know it’s only on one airplane) isnt very fun granted those aircraft with all aspect ir are sub sonic
