American SPAA can’t really be buffed without making the mode worse (as it’s already significantly better than what Russia gets).
A better solution would be to just remove the Mig-25 from the lineup.

or you could add the f4e?
If the Mig-25 is the major issue, adding an arguably better aircraft wouldn’t make things better. I do think the F-4E would be fine to be added if it only had Aim-7Es and 7E-2s.
As if russia cant evade missiles with countermeasures and having the ZSU that just snipes you from 5km away, lol
having the heart to say this 💔✌️. The whole sky every round i join in is FULL of MIG25’s. not only that but you have to physically spend multiple minutes just to find 1 guy that j’s out or dies to SPAA. and dont even bother trying to get a MIG25. Out of like 100 ive seen, ive shot down two with the aim9c
I can see I stirred the pot LOL. No hard feelings guys just my $.02.
As far as the Fishbed to E model goes, both have very different ways of fighting, one simply isn’t better than the other, what the Phantom makes up in firepower the MiG makes up in maneuverability. A well flown MiG will dog walk a mediocre Phantom all day. The only real advantage the E has if anything wants to go vertical (except Foxbats). And the real difference in BR is only 0.3 compared to the Bis.
I am not accounting into air to ground weapons as well, I am just saying if I am in a fight with a Fishbed I am not in the best position with a C model. If the C model had CM it would be vastly expand my ability to counter the Fishbed. But a well flown Bis will give me a serious run for my money, C or E.
And I also said something that is far more pressing than the E vs Fishbed debate. The Guideline is broken and doesn’t work. It is severely handicapping anyone fighting against the US. I blew several of them up with Shrikes and they did nothing. The only thing that intercepted any munitions I fired were Shilkas. That is a WAY more pressing issue than the E vs Fishbed. Not trying to like shift the topic or anything, I feel like I didn’t emphasize that enough in my last post.
Actually now that I think about it, I’m pretty confident I never saw a single Guideline launch or kill the last couple of matches I played.
However I will say this. This mode simulates the air combat in Vietnam better than it is given credit for. Everything is devolving into a giant knife fight or as famously quoted “in a phone booth”. Here is the other side of that statement, there are aircraft that absolutely should not be allowed in this mode. Everyone is mentioning this so I won’t rant on this.
I did mention this last time, but just following up, I didn’t have an issue launching from carriers this time around in my F-8.
If anyone gets anything out of my posts, FIX THE GUIDELINE IMMEDIATELY!
Ngl 9.7-10.3 would be peak for this game mode
The dogfights I keep landing are just fun as hell, had a good one with a F-5E but a M163 nabbed him unfortunately
Honestly wouldn’t mind it without any missiles but that’s what bullet hell is for
If you do try it, then side climb and then once you reach mach 2+, you become untouchable by enemy SAM
Rapidly feeling like gaining access to nukes is far to rapid for how quickly it ends the match. Does not help that SAMs present no threat for one side. Doesn’t help half the time you get a match that’s already ending on account of how quickly nuclear ordnance ends the game.
Really wishing we’d get a game mode that persists for a decent length of time outside of sim. This used to last a while, but seems they’re catering to the attention addled yet again. Just a bit tragic.
that would be the simplest solution, it’s basically the same issue as the F-14s, particularly the IRIAF, where in the original NE mode.
That said it is nice being able to spam cover me an have a good chance that a Mig-25 will blast the F-5E that is sweating all over my ground pounder before he can get his guns on.
I would honestly like to try the mode with no nukes and you had to rely on conventional weapons.
but yeah, I agree with the match durations being too short (even on the rare occasion you don’t get thrown into a match that’s basically over already), it’s just turning into another ADHD sh*t show.
The more I try to engage with SEAD, the more I am leaning towards this mode being strictly better without nukes. The presence of them makes it pretty much impossible to conduct SEAD/DEAD, as by the time you’ve prepared a site by clearing SHORAD (which is now necessary), folk have nukes and the match is soon to finish.
We have been provided tools and whatnot, only for the match timer to make them functionally worthless. PACT is the only side that really has to worry about SAMs, but even then if you’re just doing low altitude strikes it is not too difficult to lose the missile. You’re functionally better off just dropping some ordnance on midfield targets, getting a nuke, and ending the match over engaging with the mechanics of the mode.
Even throwing the aircraft away after a sortie, there’s barely any time to engage with mechanics other than “drop nuke, win”. As it stands, this is going to become a game mode that provides a match or two of engagement every couple months, and then folk will engage with better representations of this type of gameplay. Just a bit sad how this has fallen from what it was.
I’ve set myself a casual goal to sink an aircraft carrier with the Hawk 209… it’s not going well, I can manage 2 or 3 fly outs from the forward airfield to strip away the escort ships, then the forward base has usually been nuked, then maybe 1 run from the rear airfield and the match is over.
From the 2nd run on I’m often getting into fights with the nuke carriers on my way to the ships, which often results in them suicide nuking me, which at least saves the airfield for a bit.
I’ve also noticed that the “escalation meter” no longer seems to be tied to being able to pull nukes, I just had a match where the meter was half full on one side and nearly empty on the other and both teams where “happily” nuking each other… We running on SIOP-62 here.
Yeah, if it’s not addressed it’s just going to be another pretty bad at worst to mediocre under the most glowing light game mode.
I haven’t interacted with the SEAD mechanics as I’ve been playing to enjoy the planes I’ve unlocked on my grind up the Japanese air tree (Alpha Jet and T-2) but I definitely feel that the game mode would be more fun without nukes. The mode is great and the first time I’ve had in a long, long time where War Thunder felt like a game mode where your aircrafts role mattered. Zipping through canyons and mountains of the left or coming in low only to pop up and drop some bombs on a convoy and flee in my alpha jet, or flying ambush interception in the T-2 is a blast. But once the nukes start flying it just feels like the whole thing becomes a race and the only planes worth flying faster interceptors or nuke boats.
It feels like such a missed opportunity too. As you mentioned it discourages players from engaging with the games more long form systems as the race for nukes, but it also hampers options for more mechanical depth and more unit variety. Instead of nuke boats airfields make the perfect targets for strategic bombers at the lower BR’s, and interdiction or stealth bombers at the higher BR’s. If normal bombs were also reasonable damageable by penetration bombs, or if there were alternative HVT targets planes like the F117 would a have a role that they’d shine in quite well.
To sum up I just feel like the mode is held back by being so tied to the use of nukes.
Nuclear weapons could have a place in this mode (if they really are set on them), but the fact it’s so heavily tied to ending the match (especially with how quickly that happens) really kneecaps it. We could have had properly hardened targets for them to strike, instead of tying it to ending the game immediately. If they took from Sim the advancing frontline aspects and whatnot, they could have provided strategic targets that were heavily defended to help with that which required nuclear weapons to advance the game state, whilst providing reasons for other types of aircraft to be on the field.
But instead they’ve just made it eat the match as soon as folk start using them. It also is not hard to drop the nukes, PACT sams are no threat, and Hawks can be worked around with terrain. There’s nothing bar focused interception that can stop it, but if you’re intercepting you’re not dropping bombs to win the match.
Even if they removed the nukes, they could still provide deep targets that provided greater rewards or advanced the game state to provide interdictors and similar aircraft something to do with the role.
Even if nukes where restricted until certain critical tactical objective where destroyed, say destruction of the 3 forward airbases, the carrier group and/ or the early warning radars, all things that might trigger a nuclear response IRL.
yeah I would like them to be more of an end match weapon as last resort to try to turn things around, rather then just a means to an end like they are now…
I guess I’d say this round of Nuclear Thunder has been the most underwhelming? At least for all the jets available for me to use as a Sweden main.
In fact they made me not want the mode.
I’m against the mode, waste of money, trash , garbage…
The idea is nice. GJ can’t make gameplay… So i don’t expect them to have a playable mode other that crappy deathmatch.
And you know what really pissed me off. It’s that they do it INTENTIONAL . There is no other explanation. They intentionally make the mode garbage , to postpone it and then cancel it (ala WW mode for those that remember) .
You give 5 days, there are VERY SPECIFIC complains , very targeted … not 10 , 2 things… you make no real fixes before the weekend.
That’s very intentional.
They seriously need to let you turn that off for both this and naval EC…
