I don’t get why people say it’s a good multirole. I had an F8E player losing his mind cause I didn’t want to gun fight him.
1 this thing doesn’t have the acceleration to get out of a fight and it’s not great to fly, besides I never run a gunpod because this game mode needs me to have a large number of A2G to help my team. I’m not gonna ruin my already poor A2G to carry one 9L. Nor am I gonna patrol the area for nuke bombers with its terrible fuel economy.
Once it gets RBS 15 which BVVD said was coming you won’t have countermeasures as it uses stations 6 and 7 which are where you put guns or countermeasures pods
MIG-25 is soo good, i can fly 17km above the ground and yet enemy SAM cannot touch me, also players spawning B-52 only to die to a mach 3 jet that is almost impossible to shoot down is kinda funny :D
Depends what model we get and range won’t matter if they can’t track the target or be fired without a lock.
That entire reasoning is made up of an assumption. We just know they are coming not how they’ll perform.
We have one thing on Sweden to assume it’s performance and that’s the Penguin which I mean if the Penguin right now looks and performs great for you then congrats.
Again gaijin doesn’t seem to care about Nordic vehicles why would RBS 15 get added in any state like it should.
Have spent nearly 2+ hours cumulative this iteration just sitting in queues because my friend and I want to play US & UK together.
Just remove the BLUFOR/REDFOR priority already. Minor nations and Germany already get randomized to begin with. It’s that, or may as well remove the bloody flags on the NE team assignment panel.
And that’s what I’m interested in is the AJS and it’s performance in NE which currently is mediocre yet people are screaming like it’s the IRIAF of NE lol. Gaijin also doesn’t have a good track record with swedish air and the Penguins current performance is literally the worst ASHM in warthunder which IF RBS handles the same way means the AJS stays nearly irrelevant in NE
The M163 and Shilka are menaces. Can’t even bomb toss cause they snipe your bombs, can’t use smart weapons like mavs or walleyes cause they’ll get sniped kms away, can’t zuni them from range reliably cause climbing to get an angle gets you lit up by hawks, can’t even do a pop up gun run cause they know you’re there.
Not sure why the US invented the phalanx for munitions interception when all they needed to do is tape a couple of M163s to their boats instead
So just kill the battery. You only need the fire control radar (“HAWK” Radar/SNR-75) to disable the medium range missiles, and the Osa/Rapier got a 10km engagement window and aren’t as good at sniping high velocity missiles. The early warning radars also decrease their response time if you get pinged by the local one at a battery or the ones behind the lines.
Also, if you’re waiting until you’re right on top of your target to Zuni you’re doing it wrong. You should be lining up the shot at 10km, and opening fire right about 6 for SHORAD. Yes, you need to expend multiples, but the entire point of standoff is safety. You want accuracy, sure, go ahead and deal with the consequences.
MiG-25PD gets:
- IRST (IR radar tracking) which doesn’t set off RWR and can be used to track at low-altitude
- R-60M all-aspect IR missiles that pull 30G
- R-40TD long-range IR missiles to use with IRST so enemies don’t know it’s approaching.
F-4E Phantom gets:
- No IRST
- Basic SRC radar, bad for low altitude
- AIM-9J rear-aspect IR missiles that pull 20G
- AIM-7E-2 missiles that rely on the unreliable SRC radar and high altitude.
Someone make this make sense to me, because currently in Nuclear Escalation the max BR is 11.0 so the US is forced to use the inferior F-5E with rear-aspect AIM-9J’s or the old F-4C with 0 countermeasures and 10G rear-aspect AIM-9E’s against freaking R-60M/R-60MK and more capable Russian radars.
Russia gets MiG-21/23’s with 6x R-60M and gets R-23T while US is stuck with rear-aspect missiles unless you bring A-10A Late or A-6E Tram which are both easy prey.
The AV-8B NA is the only jet with a J-band ARM missile but it can’t be used because it’s 11.3 BR, and guess what the primary Russian AA is? The ZSU-23-4V with a J-band radar. Shrikes don’t have an option that tracks J band.
The M163’s tracking dish is I-band and Russia gets I-band ARM’s.
I’m enjoying this mode regardless, but this BR selection is raising serious BR balance concerns.
Have you tried to play both of those vehicles? MiG-25PD gets the IRST tracking exclusively for the R-40TD, it won’t help with the R-40RD, and which R-40TD is limited to two in total and just like R-60M those lose contact with a target if a bird farts nearby. Lack of proper anti-radiation missiles on J-band for the US is mostly certainly lack of real technology that fits the Vietnam War timeline, I don’t think that would be fair to put AV-8B NA in the playable vehicles’ list because of that reason. And A-6E Tram Intruder and A-10 Thunderbolt being available is still a bit of stretch since both of these dates after the Vietnam War which I have no doubt that there are some others in the Warsaw Pact side.
The US also gets the F-5E which is one of the best aircraft due to a powerful RWR, great flight performance, and good A2G/A2A armaments.
What we really need is rolling BR brackets like sim, because moving it to 11.3 would just mean the F-4E is by far the best all round aircraft, and it (and others) would make playing anything below 10.7 much worse.
Having played it a bit at the lower battle rating 8.7-9.7 Britain, and I personally enjoy the gamemode.
It feels that the strike aircraft can do their work, and are not instantly focused down by fighters, because there is a large area that they can play on, and the ability to respawn, makes risky moves less punishing.
However, the SPAA & SAM can feel very powerful at times, especially the SPAA. One thing i did figure out, was that one of your first priories should be the SAM sites, so you are able more easily penetrate the enemy front lines and wreak havoc. The presence of the SAM sites, makes it really punishing trying to use altitude to evade the enemy anti-air, since it is effective even above 10km.
The biggest problem i have with the mode, is that as soon as the nukes come into place, the game feels over very quickly. At the same time, it goes from playing your own aircraft, to only focusing playing the nuclear carrier.
It would be great, that if there were longer time/more points required for the first nukes to come into play, and maybe even have smaller nukes between the 5kt & 30kt, each with different requirements. Another way could maybe also increase the health of the airfields, so that two 30kt nukes are required instead on a single one.
It would also be great if you added the ability for the aircraft that could, that they would be able to carry nuclear weapons, so you are able to use your own plane, but with nukes. Examples would be something like the WE.177 on the Buccaneer or Sea Harrier. Of course, each nuke you want to use, requires the specifc SP to spawn it depending on amount and kt.
