Me 262 in its proper tier

A myth that a 12.7mm deals low damage compared to larger calibers?

A myth that 75% of plane isn’t susceptible to getting hit by a 12.7mm?

In War Thunder the 12.7 x 99 has been quite consistent and reliable for the most part. Even when cannons, even if only particular ones, were struggling.
As far as War Thunder goes Cal. 50 is one of the most reliable calibres.

US pilots reported that Sabres were struggling a bit with their machine guns where a single 23mm hit from a MiG-15 could take out their plane.

In game however, especially if you are a good shot and take the possible volume of fire into account, Cal. 50 has always been one of the best performing rounds both on damaging aircraft as well as bullet velocity.
Some struggle with aiming their machine guns in this calibre others argue it simply is overperforming.

I would say in game Cal. 50 is doing quite a lot of damage compared to many cannons.

I‘m not talking about the game but RL.

I see.
The one you responded to was talking about in game balance so I thought you were too.

I guess I was talking about in game stats.

But it’s quite obvious that 30mm Mineshells severely outperform .50cal API in terms of damage.

Maybe except damage to engines but in general a random .50cal isn’t going to do much to a plane compared to a 30mm Mineshell.

What makes .50cals deadly in WT is that they are too accurate, giving them much more effective range, and that spars take way too much damage, making it possible to rip a planes wing by landing a few shots on them.

Well, chances to cause deadly fuel fires is also overstated with .50cals simply because how fuel fires and API are modeled.

You can just pepper a bomber from range and set it on fire and call it a day.

Cannon rounds also tend to be unreliable in game.
Depending on the patch of course but MG 151 and DEFA/ADEN have been as efficient as 7.5mm, 7.62mm, 7.92mm Machine Guns at times.

Yes.

The cited “untouchable” was about playing in downtiers with a 262 vs props. So when a fellow player described 262s then as “unbeatable” i just disagreed and replaced it with “untouchable” as the main issues of 262s (=to bring guns on target AND to hit something with MK 108s outside head-ons) are not solved in a downtier.

At a certain point you are alone vs the entire team and even if just 2 props stalk you the challenge is to separate them in order to attack one of them. It is way easier to kill anything below and in front of you than anything behind you.

I revisited the 262 A-2a for about 20 matches in order to complete this “kill 3 enemies with rockets <5 kg” BP challenge. Besides that 2 bombers were stolen as hits did not resulted in instant kills (in exchange for getting 2 times wrecked by 0.50 cal turrets😂) the only really positive thing i noticed was the more or less total absence of BI rocket fighters. I finished the BP challenge by killing a Spit and a Sandy landed on their forward airfield and a Strikemaster stalling in front of me.

The A2A is quite decently placed actually.
If they put the A1A1 and Jabo at 6.7 with an airspawn for the former the situation would be much improved.

Props and esrly jets esoecially in combination can be quite the issue. Especially once the useless aircraft on your team are shot down just as you said.

The uptiers are what makes A1A1 as well as Jabo a real pain to play. With carereful positioning and handling you can still get things done at times but you are of course disadvantaged generally and once your positioning and or energy is not perfectly managed for whichever reason you can’t do muxh about it even against players who really struggle
Simply because some of the planes you will face are out of your league.

Yes, very well.
Gaijin, in his infinitely wise, constant balancing of BR, has balanced it so that if you want to play with a fully researched 262 A-1a, it’s appalling, because you’re up against F-86A/89B,D …
A plane from 1944, against planes from 1955/60, a mockery…
The other C versions in that block, they’re some strange prototypes…
The first one, but not the second one at all, it’s already annoying…

Well, it’s like always, what’s good, we’ll ruin it, with high BR, or high costs…¨
The A-1a should have gone to 6.0 and that should have ended the block…
That night two-seater version in a pair would have been more interesting than researching the same plane several times because of a new auxiliary engine…

Yes, although the BR of the C2B has now dropped to 7.7, the trajectory of the 108 machine cannon is still unsettling. It is difficult to hit targets effectively unless at extremely close range or firing from the side.
