Matilda II Mk IV - Lady with Thick Skin

Looks good! Though I have one quibble. The Matilda doesn’t have a hull MG, and the coaxial is a 7.92mm BESA, not an M1919. Other than that, great post, and since we already have the Russian Valentine and 76mm Matilda, why not the original? +1

I’d love more lend-lease in the game, exptly to the two nations who seem to have the least of them despite being major recipients of it.

My first no vote.

My reasoning is that the Matilda is a painful vehicle to grind out due to the poor mobility and stock 2-pdr cannon accuracy and ammo effectiveness, so giving the USSR tree an identical one isn’t fun. It’s also a missed opportunity.

If you’re going to give the USSR tree a British tank because it got them via Lend-Lease, then you should do something interesting and unique with it - give them a version of the Valentine which was experimentally re-armed with the domestic 45mm cannon, so it at least has a good gun. Not sure if they did the same thing with the Matilda, but if so, then I’d vote for that.

Well, the Soviets have Matilda in this game.
[MK-II “Matilda”]
The one which has 76mm F-96 for gun instead.

which was released at 2017 as some kind of event reward premium.
It is unobtainable unless

  • you pay to someone who has tickets in Gaijin market
  • or spend a fortune amount of SL on [blah-ba blah box] and wish you win one.

So… Matila lovers from east wants regular version instead
maybe?

The matilda is a pretty good infantry tank tho. two shots and most things are dead and most people cant pen you

no. ussr already has the mathilda f32. The only acceptable alternative would be a 45mm mathilda.

45mm Matilda may not exist, but there is another:

that i would support, and not another souless CP.

I agree, modified vehicles such as the Soviet uparmored Valentines (and by extension the one with the 45mm) would be much preferable to represent wartime lend-lease without straight copies of existing tanks.

I have both the Soviet Valentine and the Matilda with the better gun, I see no point in this second Soviet Matilda with the puny gun.
I definitely would not spend a penny of real money to obtain it.

I will never understand why some get upset about these lend leased vehicles, they were used in the thousands and is initially what mobilized the Soviets I mass against the Germans. Even if they aren’t added to the tech tree, they deserve as spot as a premium or something of that nature.

Copy paste simply bloats the game unnecessarily. War Thunder has never been about accurate portrayals of armed forces, and so when adding new vehicles I prefer to have every single vehicle be unique in its own right, whether that be a completely different design or a relatively minor modification.

And with a tree as big as Russia, there are many, many better options for both tech tree and premium spots. If I wanted to play the Matilda, I would go to the British tree, which would also be the better option for a premium version. For Russia I’d prefer to see Russian designed mediums such as the A-20, A-25 (L-10), T-28-57, T-28-85, etc.

“Copy-paste is bad, and I don’t want to see them in sim.” :/

Their point is also a bit fair because ‘adding whole bunch of captured/leased vehicles’ can make playing the original nation pointless.

(With some joke, it would be great if I could have a whole arsenal of RAFwaffe planes as long as the British have 0 captured vehicles in TT at all, but sadly, it will make German TT less catching.)

But, as I claimed earlier and on some other topic, maybe one or two ‘extremely iconic and widely used’ vehicles can be added and need to be treated well.
(It’s Gaijin’s fault that who just spams copied vehicles for makes player resist further and further.)

IMHO, Soviet matilda with 2pdr is way better idea than those damn funny Kungstiger in SWE TT.
(Gaijin: No King tigers to Frenches because we decided to add no c&p captured vehicle, but adding it to Sweden instead is fine because they didn’t capture King Tiger but bought from french!)

Ehh… No offence.

I prefer Matlida II, which had real combat experience in the eastern front over some iffy prototypes which never saw combat but were built for testing guns. :|

I also understand and respect your point of view.
Unique things are also fine to see. right?

I do understand your point of thinking, and I think I would quite enjoy more examples of lend lease and export vehicles in other games, I just don’t think that War Thunder’s design really permits for it all too much with the only historical aspects retained being the vehicle designs and functions themselves.

In my opinion, the rare and rather abstract prototypes that some may find off putting, are really what appeals to me most.

If we had proper historical scenarios, I would be interested perhaps in seeing nation mixing in order to achieve more accurate lineups, but for now I can’t say I’m keen on seeing more of the same identical vehicle on then battlefield, it just begins to feel a bit stale.

Yeah… Gaijin used copy and paste things as their secret sauce when they don’t want to work but still want to scam our money. too much.
Honestly, they raised aggro too much about adding either ‘direct C&P’ and ‘similar vehicle which can be seen as C&P’

IMO, it is damn shame that some iconic vehicles which really saw combat and took role in war gets -1 on suggestion. Thanks to Gaijin.
Lamest C&P like kungstiger, which never saw combat, ruined the TT and spread hatred about 'adding some iconic lend-lease and export vehicles. ’ :/

Not entirely sure that vehicles like the Kungstiger are responsible for the “no” votes on such export vehicles though. For example, I’m not afraid to admit that I voted no on this suggestion, and many others that were lend lease copies, and that those decisions were not at all biased by the Kungstiger (although I occasionally use it as an example for why I dislike C&P additions so much).

And you also have to remember that what you may consider to be an “iconic export/lend-lease” vehicle is to me one that can just as easily be represented via a skin.

Since War Thunder doesn’t choose to represent historical engagements, playing something like the Soviet Matilda from this suggestion doesn’t feel like such an iconic and important piece of history, but rather an exact repeat of the Matilda I first played in the UK, which already left its impression on me.

Well… maybe I am just whining about ‘what if Gaijin didn’t c&p as same as now’ then would it be fine to I can play my Matilda in a soviet deck too…?

:(

Especially when a 76mm up-gunned matila isn’t accessible ‘in reasonable price’. :/

Yeah, I did mention that I wouldn’t have an issue with combined nation lineups in the case of a historical event, in which I think they could actually be quite fun to play with. Something akin to a restart of the world war mode would be nice.

I would love to see it, but in the British tech tree. I would love more diversity in Matilda and Valentine line-ups.
