Maps are waaaay too small for SAMs & little bit of ranting

I’ve been playing wt for 11 years never really liked playing high tier stuff, mostly played around tier III/IV all these years but recently i tried to give high tier stuff (9.3+) another chance. I’ve come to realization that maps at high tier are absurdly small for tanks let alone for SAMs.

Currently using Ozelot for air defence, when an enemy plane spawns i can detect it immidiately with radar and by “chemtrails” on winter maps. After like 10-15 seconds i can lock and kill it easily even if it manuevers/flares. I can’t imagine what its like with new multi vehicle SAMs with huge radars and more capable missles than my lil stingers. They have incredible ranges but the maps are like 1,5-2km (around 7-10km from airspawn to actual ground map) at most.
And since most maps are easy to spawn camp or enemy team can see into spawn from various points, they just have no way to take cover and hide themselves from enemy tanks, their enormous sizes really dont help.

Same goes for tanks too. The distance between bases are around 2km at most and the engagement ranges is so close and starting point of fighting are just too close to bases. I’m not saying “boohoo its not realistic” bcuz first, its a game and it has to be fun. Secondly, ackchually it IS realistic for tanks to engage almost pointblank ranges as we’re all seeing from the conflicts around the world today. But i just dont think its fun gameplay (to me atleast) when a modern mbts with lazer rangefinders and all that complicated electronic stuff just fight their barrels touching eachother…

I didnt think much about a possible solution (or why im writing this in general…) but maybe if ground maps were close to 10km by 10km and airfleld like 100km away, the “”“problems”“” i mentioned might be fixed. I know most players wouldnt want to play like this but i want to hear that the community thinks.

TDLR; maps are too small make them 10 times bigger
