I think the key to this problem lies in the accuracy and ground clutter resistance of the ARH MSL
Aster30 Buk NASAMAS … AIM120C the ARH MSL in game be weak to in earth
In fact they can kill heli ;they ground clutter only takes effect below 10m ,is not 60m ;60m this is very fake
Not just because of this, when the helicopter is in lateral motion and continuously releasing foil strips, even without multipath interference, ARH missiles will still be interfered with.
Greece has tor-m1, which is indeed a good choice for Israel’s 11.3 queue
the way it is currently implemented, a hovering heli is essentially doing a perfect doppler notch.
from the heli perspective it is extremely trivial: just go into hover mode and only press the key to go left or right.
ARH missiles will fly past you. Buks may occasionally hit due to their enormous proxy fuze radius. So essentially in WT a heli can comfortably hover even at 500m as long as all incoming missiles are only ARH or IR. Only SACLOS is a threat.
In real life, a heli can’t “notch” by moving perpendicular to the missile: Its rotor blades create a constant, unavoidable and very unique radar signal, making it trivial for ARH missiles to home in. Their protection is the ground clutter which is very strong when flying at treetop level.
If I were to choose SACLOS AA from Italy, it would be DRACO, which can use DRAT guided projectiles with a speed of 1200m/s. It uses Command Line Of Sight guidance and a firing rate of 85 rounds per minute, which would be an alternative solution.
So this OTOMATIC on steroids shoots 76mm rockets?
From what I can tell the “DART” is a guided proximity fuze shell with a high velocity. I don’t think it has a rocket booster.
Though not currently modeled as it misses everything
I guess Russia suffers at top tier and thus really needed that 3rd top tier SPAA.
Yeah, they needed something to counter KH-38MTs on the Japanese Su-30. It was unfair for them to have to deal with them
Would be cool that have it ingame.
You shoot and the shells naviguate through your sight and all
I just cant get around “guided” part. How is it guided if its not propelled?
the FINs turn accordly to the pointer
Jup, really cool and fast guided bullet, should be pretty good for anti heli
Would like to note that, its not the propellant that guides missiles (unless thust vector) but fins
No, they don’t.
Helicopters just need rotor wash so they can’t defeat radar missiles by existing anymore.
Yeah, poop NATO forces don’t need decent SPAAs to defend themselves, let’s just give it all to Russia man
I admit other nations should get better and newer SPAAs, but honestly the new Pantsir SM-SV doesn’t look like a big threat, and the only good thing of it is that it can intercept 110% of the incoming spam of Mavericks and SPICE 250.
🤔can’t say I’ve deflected missiles with rotor wash yet
need to try that sometime
Something the Pantsir S1 already did only now you get vastly better missiles
oh, I should mention the worst part:
it’s not a truck anymore so you can expect Pantsir SMs to larp on the frontline as an IFV like the 2S6s regularly do, pushing the stats down and justifying something more insane for USSR in the near future
oh
also because the BUK is no longer the tippy top of the branch Gaijin will probably make it the free SPAA for top tier games
Unfortunately Draco wasn’t fully functional, so has low chances to appear in the game, plus it’s not clear how Dart would perform in WT.
Although Italy with multiplatform systems introduction can actually have at least a few systems between SAMP/T and Romanian OSA-AKM:
