Makeshift, Field Modifications, & Last Ditch Weapons
With the recent infantry testing, I’m putting forward a discussion focused on improvised gear, field modifications, and last-ditch solutions the kind of “if it works, it works” equipment that shows up when standard issue isn’t enough or not available. Across different eras, soldiers have adapted weapons, vehicles, and tools in the field to meet immediate needs, whether that’s modifying rifles, building ad-hoc defenses, or repurposing heavier weapons for infantry use. This could add a unique layer of gameplay showing adaptability, creativity, and resourcefulness throughout history.
In terms of scope, this could include everything from modified small arms (cut-down rifles, taped magazines, improvised attachments), to field workshop weapons that have appeared throughout history to help arm underequipped units. From a gameplay perspective, these systems could offer an interesting look into history while providing interesting equipment with its advantages and trade offs (Aircraft MGs fire lots of rounds but will overheat easily). This can also extend to artillery and uniforms to home made push guns. Anything that can boost a troopers power or to make do with what’s there.
Curious to hear what others think what kinds of field mods or improvised gear would you want to see, what is available throughout history?
