Night vision is completely useless because of battlefield illumination flares and it’s not even dark enough for them to be useful during peak darkness. WTF Gaijin

More or less due to the lighting system Gaijin uses is old as heck and very limited in what it can do.
There’s a reason why Gaijin doesn’t do baked lighting so we can turn vehicle lights on.

That’s huge. Possible to make night battles available for lower tiers as well since we have that toggle option now? My most memorable match was in GRB 6.3 with USA night battle on Arctic. pls gib

Two points…
Flares in night battles are “needed” for those players without NVD…without flares those players would be completely blind…and i am assuming most would just leave. Not much fun not being able to drive without bumping into stuff. I recall some games where only one vehicle had night vision…my other two spawns could only move (without bumping into stuff) when flares were above.
I do understand “real night” battles and players wanting them…but these should be “reserved” for tiers where everyone can fight…IMHO.
TBH…i haven’t played a night battle for long…so not really sure how it is now…

Bright moonlit nights look like that.Some nights are darker than others.
We had bright sunlight,fog and rain at one point and everybody just bitched about it saying they couldn’t see anything .You all whine about bushes yet you want to fire at a glowing shape you cant make out.
Make your minds up.
But the player without NVD can just select to not queue in night battle.

In arcade you need 3 vehicles with NVD (or backups)…
I am guessing that once you have ONE you will want to try night battles, even with only one capable vehicle…and after you die you will be stuck with two useless vehicles and/or have to quit…
I recall doing this back before the flares existed…actually in arcade i could aim at the “markers”…but this is both not fun and extremely unrealistic…
BTW…i am NOT against the “idea” of removing flares…just a fair warning…
Just thought that you could make flares something you could “request” for non NVD equipped vehicles…like artillery
So the matchmaker knows if you have NV in your line up and wont let you play without it ?
And instantly become CAS pray? There’s a reason, very historical one as well, why you DONT have your lights on during the night

But i think you can manually select if you want to play night battles or not…i recall seeing this option somewhere, i think. (do correct me if wrong or if no longer available…i am not at home ATM)
Night battles do appear only for BRs where NVD vehicles exist…BUT in the lower “admissible” BRs there are A LOT of vehicles without NVDs. At top tier i guess all vehicles have nightvision…the issue is only in the transition layers.
Night is supposed to be hard and NVG is supposed to be an advantage. Especially the difference between 1st and later gen NVG/Thermal
Make night battles non optional. If I can’t skip the crappy artificially constrained “brawl maps” why is Night battles an option?
Night vision devices are researchable and omnipresent way below the current night battle limit. Should be around 5-6 where it starts maybe with some limited, but vastly reduced quantities of flares and mainly NVG starting at 7+

The issue is one of BR/Era . Those vehicles with night vision vs those that don’t have it so rely on flares which destroy night vision.If you can make that work then good luck to you but its the same BR induced technology issue that exists everywhere else in this game and we are told to simply suck it up.
So stand by for some serious night game dog poo if and when this kicks in. Impending disaster as usual, like we didn’t all see it coming. WW2 armour vs APDS, Jets vs Props etc etc etc.More era debacles.
I’m glad I can just opt out of this mess. I wish I could opt out of the rest of them as well : )
