Make it so flame throwers could set regular tanks on fire if shot at the engine?

there are a few games that do it like that

This isn’t really that realistic. The Swedes tested what would happen if napalm was dropped onto a tank and it didn’t do much

One small issue there; molotov cocktails. Idk what tanks the swedes tested, however molotov cocktails have remained the cheapest way to threaten a tank for a long time.

They propably tested that on tanks with NBC protection ?
On WW2 Tanks, taking out the engine should be at least possible.
In my opinion they need to rebalance Flamethrowers in general.

Maybe make them not oneshot open top tanks and let them take out engines instead.

possible to dissable a tank via landing some flames seems balanced, you trade the sheer versatility of an mg (destroying cover without giving your position too much, mark or even kills things from far away) to the flamethrower that blinds, demolishes open tops and with this, disable casemates, at the cost of getting real close to the enemy

NBC Protection is only for the crew compartment.

The way molotov cocktails disable engines is by overheating them and also possibly damaging or destroying plastic or flammable engine components. That takes time.

It honestly depends on the tank. A lot of early WW2 and cold war vehicles had grilles or air intakes that weren’t protected and easily accessible while most modern stuff are designed to prevent burning fluids from getting into the engine compartment.

The tank is fine itself… what is not fine is the crew getting cooked inside.
