Major Update “Tusk Force” - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Right, but the problem is how slow it takes them to flesh out tech trees. It doesn’t matter if they add a new tech tree, there has been a decrease in content per update over the past couple years, despite gaining more players and making more money. They need to expand their development team or something.

They can’t rush things with nations like this as you’ll ran out of stuff very quickly

I honestly don’t see a problem with running out of things to add to a nation. It means that once a nation is complete, you can move on to the next? Especially something like Israel, which is sort of a minor nation. There are still several countries which could fill out an entire tech tree (or far more than Israel) on their own, which are only represented by a vehicle or two in game. Based on how Gaijin seems to operate, we would almost need a nation to get filled out just so we could get another one, or else you would have to spread more content out over more nations. Either finish a nation so you can move on, or expand your development team so you can make more content.

Eh… That interval is too long. War Thunder is sustained by new content.

What they could do with is a major update where no new vehicles are added, but instead they direct all their time and energy to A) fixing the mountain of major issues existing vehicles have. B) adding new features to existing vehicles such as AESA and C) polishing existing game mechanics.

only nation that is truly done is japan, they wont get anything new till f-35. unless they add prototypes and proposed vehicles or they add thailand gripen e which they didn’t put into service yet

F-15DJ? if you count that as new

Unless they add Indonisia as a sub which is likely

That’s a fair point, but then how do we address the issue of some vehicles wrecking the balance of top tier for several monthes because their equivalents don’t all come in the same update?

Because that level of balance is practically impossible.

Take the new rank VII battleships.

The only option for the soviets is so stupidly OP it should never have been added, at least not in its current state.

So even when you add something to everyone in the same major update, it doesnt actually gurantee balance

Tbh most issues come from poor development choices and content quality more than anything else, so no matter what the same issues will remain. But in an ideal world where gaijin actually does the best, having less updates but bigger ones could work I think…

I mean a basic comparison of stats between vehicles would be a good indication of what will come from adding them. Also, adding all nations vehicle of the update in one update instead of spread out between two. I don’t understand why every nation didn’t get its new top tier AA vehicle in one update, that doesn’t make sense to me.

Idk I don’t mind it too much as long as these vehicles are fun and work properly, but I might be biased as I have almost 9 ground trees and 5 air trees up to top tier.

I get why they do it, but it’s kind of sad that interesting stuff like the T58 is a premium, but boring stuff like the M55 gets plopped into like 5 trees. (Yeah I know this is opinion based).

Not boring but downright annoying how blatantly obvious it is that they are just doing it so they can add filler to every tech tree so they can say that “x” nation wasnt left out this update. And it comes at the cost of actually interesting domestic options for certain nations.

So Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works just announced a new project.

Vectis CCA, and the Agile Drone Framework.

https://youtu.be/FrAOBuskffA?si=QP6eVX3AhdZRjo-g

1:38 - 2:30 for Vectis.

In short Vectis is an unmanned stealth fighter meant to be deployed alongside current US fighters like the F-22 and F-35 as drone wingmen. It will be controlled by the pilot of the manned fighter and supposedly through AI systems it will engage targets.

I wonder if we could ever see anything like this come to War Thunder in the far (very very very far) future?

Sounds like something that could work once we get advanced 5th gen, stealth, electronic warfare, long range missiles, etc. Especially since usa wouldn’t be the only one to get such support drones

I think we should wait for improved implementation of MQ-1 and later MQ-9/MQ-20, then the XQ-58 as the first CCA type before going into more advanced ones like Vectis, YFQ-42 and YFQ-44

I wonder if CCA is how they manage to successfully implement the B-21 into future top tier

Of course a lot of things have to come before this, this is something we can imagine in several years, but time flies so it’s not that far away from now

That’s possible, we’ll see I guess. But that’s an interesting possibility

Yeah, for sure. But I think CCA could provide the self defence stuff like the B-21, P-8, and others need to be added to a realistic BR, maybe in 2029
