Is there any chance the british phantoms or F-4E will receive AIM-9Ls anytime soon? These aircraft absolutely suffer even against aircraft at their battlerating

I doubt they will… Maybe in the near future, but sadly most likely not this soon.
But they do alright if in the same BR or Under. Uptier you gotta be more sneaky. That’s how I played with the British Phantom at least.

The F-4E is the Vietnam iteration. It’s very unlikely. I would go as far as to declare never coming to that variant.
Perhaps GJ is working on new F-4 Wild Weasels & late FGRs that will have the capability. But the F-4E currently in game? I honestly doubt it.
They are decent but things like the MLD and Mirage F1 eats it alive
If they wont give it any of its air to air ordinance from post vietnam at least give it Pave Knife and let it be a phat strike aircraft at like 11.3 in ground or something
I just feel like Gaijin has forgotten about a lot of these older US aircraft… the A-7s, AF Phantoms, even any of the other century series aircraft. 2 decades of US air have been ignored for modern shinies.

Smin did indicate way back Wild Weasel F-4s & F-105s are definitely a possibility.
Oh, believe me I barked up that same tree, lot more aggressively to the point of suspension once before. :)
I did not suffer through 745 games in the F-4E without issuing my share of request before SARHs came to game. (pretty decent player too).
They should get them. Especially with Britain having 2 near identical phantoms, the FGR2 could get them and the FG1 could remain as is. So even if, and I do stress, if the BR changes for it. No one loses out.
The ASB battle ratings are far better in my opinion and I think a lot should be adopted for ARB
They could even only give 1 of them AIM-9Ls to make one a slightly higher br than the other to give a different play style.
I mean the biggest part of why we want a tree is so we can have our stuff together in one tree over 5+ it is right now. It’s about being able to make line-ups of our nations instead of just 1DL because that other stuff doesn’t interest you or the nation you like doesn’t use it. We would mind a sub-tree(in the UK tree) but as the one that makes sense already has one we’ve resorted to our last hope.
Anyways I haven’t seen an updated Spain tree but I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Yeah, Exactly what I meant. FG1 technically didnt get Aim-9Ls (in RN service) so its not even ahistorical.
I guess maybe Air National Guard F-4E (1984) and F-4S Late (USN) armed AIM-9L
I predict F-4E at USA tech tree from late Vietnam War in 1974 and equipped Pave Spike (AN/ASQ-153) electro-optical laser designator targeting pod. but not AN/AVQ-23 from Buccaneer S.2B (RAF) and F-4E Kurnass 2000 (IAF)

I think it’s time remind GJ the time to start adding these lower tier aircraft is now or coming around the corner.
It is frustrating when you look at other 11.3 aircraft slinging All-aspects and with arguably better close range BVRs as well.
Even in the British TT FGR2 and F3 being the same BR is hilarious. Ultimately its a compression issue though
