The base AAM-4 is close to the AIM-120C-5, AAM-4B is at C-7 level. The source also references Jane’s and should therefore be viewed with some skepticism.

Not as agile as an R-73, but still very agile for a non thrust vectoring missile haha
Essentially, in comparison to the 120A, the R-77 has: greater acceleration, greater initial pull, substantially worse range, substantially more drag, substantially worse agility over longer ranges (due to lower energy and a lack of a sustainer) and marginally worse guidance.
That’s not to say that the 120A has poor acceleration or initial pull though, because it doesn’t. A large portion of the time, a shot an R-77 could hit a 120A could equally hit, unless its for example a relatively high off bore shot. Therefore, 120A is definitely a lot more versatile and capable of hitting targets within a wider range of opportunity relative to an R-77.
Any info about Gripens getting Litening III?
Dont want to misinfo dump, but I think they’ve experimented with IR’s
I dont think anything radar guided though
Wouldn’t make much sense to since they’re looking to use F-16’s and other NATO vehicles
That is an exceptional circumstance because of the dire need and from what I have heard these weapons do not perform to full ability because the plane is missing targeting and datalink features
Citation?
Why is the T-80UE1 premium…
They’ll get them when gaijin finally decides to give the Tornado GR.1 and Harrier GR.7 LITENING and Sniper pods respectively
Then it’s not just straight up better or worse, but rather, asymmetrical balance. Interesting!
Kinda like R-73 and AIM-9M; R-73 is better in every single way… except for longer range reliability; in that regard, AIM-9M is generally better.
So, as of now, R-77 vs AIM-120A seems to be a similar case; R-77 better for close ranges, AIM-120A better for longer ranges.
I see, nice!
Nah they’re effectively the same. 120A to 120B was basically just a software upgrade and in game this change would be incredibly marginal if present at all; think of it as AIM-7F → AIM-7M in terms of War Thunder.

Oh, okay then, thanks!
it says both AAM4 and AAM4B…
The test event during ~March.
yea Asymetrical balance, R-73 is better in every way but at least R-27ER is also better in every way but dont forget R-77 is worse in exactly one way and better in every other
Soo when Gr.4 and Gr.9a get added
The problem of naval is that they introduced it absolutely terrible. Huge grind for few vehicles (or similar vehicles) and you were forced to play torpedo boats first.
If they added naval now with the content we have right now it would have been mor popular even on long term
well in that case couldnt they have just named it the 120b then as the 7f and 7m are carbon copys as the monopulse changes still have not been implemented and i highly doubt it ever will.
I am trying to cope with the fact that Russia is blatantly superior to the U.S in nearly every way and you are not helping xD
