My understanding is that’s not possible and it’s specific to the missile, is there anything that would lead you to believe what you said? Like something that states RVV-AE has lower launch limits on other aircraft? I haven’t even seen any sources on RVV-AE’s launch limits in the first place.
the fact that launch limit changes depending on what radar is used. Leads me to believe that launches must be WITHIN the gimbal limits of host radar, not that r-77 has no launch restrictions.
Yellow zone is permitted launch zones.
see how its 170 degrees for zhuk me
then 120 degrees for zhuk ae
I think you might have things mixed up. The R-77 can have no launch restrictions but have effective launch limitations based on radar gimbal limits. So basically the R-77 has no launch limitations and it is up to the radar to take advantage of whatever it can manage.
oh yeah that would make sense. But that still means you can’t be shooting past ±60 degrees on something like a su-27/j-11a, there should still be max launch limit for r-77. just that it depends on the plane that its on
@Smin1080p_WT My sincerest apologies, but may I ask if the PL12A in the current dev server is in its finished state? Will its data still receive improvements? Its weight is still incorrectly listed as 198 kg, and there seems to be no difference in its propulsion compared to the PL12 (SD10a).
im actually dumb as bricks why did I not think of this earlier
i’ve literally read older secondary sources that stated that r-77 has no launch limits imposed on itself other than the radar capabilities in secondary sources before and didn’t think of them until now
the secondary source I was talking about (missile and plane biography from a bunch of old engineers from various russian military instututes and stuff)
says that missile targeting capability is ±180 degrees
I used to follow updates much more closely than I do now, but shouldn’t it be out soon? thought it would be this week or so, but I guess it’ll be next week? or are we expecting a friday release?
