Major Update "Ninth Wave" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Yeah, I wouldnt be surprised either. either that or Meteors for their F-18s :D

Why are you two even comparing ATGMs to freefall bombs?

Brimstones replaced BL-755 in RAF service.

Where the US developed more advanced CBUs instead

Sure, that doesn’t turn Brimstones into bombs though, does it?

I feel obligated to post this now 😭😭

Resume

The swedes constantly be judging us about our language

He asked if the UK ever developed a CBU where each bomblet had a seeker like CBU-97.

The answer is no, because instead they went in the direction of the Brimstone and stopped using CBUs like most of the world

eh not really, we used mavericks a lot too, we just had the budget to keep developing CBU’s alongside missiles

If Canada is switching away from the pure F-35 fleet to the (more ideal fleet if you ask me) high-low, I’d expect the Hornets to be fast-tracked into retirement. (tho at this point, 90% sure we would have/are having to make a plan to keep the Hornets in service even longer with everything going wrong with the F-35. Or if it wasn’t for other issues, basically copying Aussie equipment layout with F-35s and Super Hornets that would have happened.)

What are you guys going with anyways?

i agree it looks cool, just a shame it blows ingame

I mean, it’s almost like missiles are much safer to use than freefall bombs

Why go for a bombing run if you can just lob some missiles from a low altitude

thats not the problem.

the problem is the us f35 in the winter. stealth in the -40 dgree cold.

most of the future combat will happend in north and british colombia side.

More widely available parts make the long-term cost cheap as most parts exist for other vehicles meaning there is a supply that you can get outside of SAAB.

Additionally Gripen has the ability to be modified to fit any NATO equipment so it allows users to choose what missiles they can afford. Not to mention it doesn’t have engine problems in the Cold unlike most US vehicles have, at least old F18 and F16 were unusable in Nordic weather
