Major Update "Line of Contact" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

yes. Pl-15 is not a dedicated long range AAM like the PL-17 but it does out range AMRAAM. That’s why I mentioned missile counts since the EX can carry way more missiles

unfortunately DOA for sure

Bruh, how?

Well tbf we know actually nothing about the AIM-260

Solid radar but no crazy gimbals, ok CM count, ok RWR, only gets MAWS with PIDS which won’t come because gaijin hates the US, only 6 missiles, FM ok

So it’s not a Meteor counterpart?

give it aim9x and aim120c-7, or even aim120d and it’d do fine at a higher br imo.

Meteor is kind of weird since it’s a ramjet. I think it’s somewhere between medium and long range

Im gunna assume much like they did with the first round of Fox-3s they’ll balance things out artificially, but given map sizes, I think Aim-120D, vs Meteor, vs PL-15E would actually be about okay

I think meteor will come with R37, Pl17 and aim174/aim260

Meteor can’t go on the double pylons right?

I have no idea. Maybe? But hopefully by then we’ll also have ASRAAMs, so it will be less impactful if we dont

I remember seeing people talk about it, iirc it’s being considered
But really not sure

Well then Meteor being held in the least numbers and AIM-120D having the biggest count does balance it out pretty nicely

Meteors are slower than others due to being ramjets am I right?

any idea on what this is ?

Off the rail yes, at distance no. It retains energy very well due to the ram jet and will comfortably sit at above mach 3 at 60 km according to rumors.

Even then, I dont think its going to be overally impactful if we did get 8.

Figuring that most fights will probably still be held at closer ranges and they will at best have MICA EM C&P seekers, so still fairly easy to defeat using chaff and I doubt that the variable throttle will be modeled and they’ll probably just max burn which will limit their LSZ a bit… It would just be like the current imbalance between MICA EM and Aim-120C5. one has range, the other has everything else. In this Aim-120D would be far better at the short-medium ranges but still do okay at longer ranges when needed. The only really notable trait of the Meteor will be that you can kinematically defeat it like you can currently with long ranged Aim-120C5 shots

Only for the first 20km or so then they outperform the rest in speed. Manueverability might be questionable though Im sure it’s sufficient
