Major Update "Leviathans" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

The 9G on Rafale and EFT has nothing to do with actual limits; 9G is a common “peace time” limit to prevent from unecessary overstress of the Airframes.

Reports confirm that both planes are capable of much more than 9G and high AoA, with the EFT still underperforming atm as per reports.

it isnt a G-limiter but AoA limiter instead

so you can technically pull 12Gs as long as you dont exceed the AoA limit of ~25° (for most of the unstable airframes)

Um no? In their fly-by-wire systems, they’re limited to 9G. It’s not like early 4th gens where the higher ups say “oh, you can’t pull more than 6.5 to preserve the aircraft’s lifespan” (and then the pilots do it anyway, and the plane is fine)
They’re limited to 9G for safety, structural reasons, and on top of that, unnecessary overstress. FBW overrides their command there.

Even during wartime, I doubt they’d be able to sustain more than 11-12G realistically before rapid midair disassembly. It’s also just not good for the pilot. If we want the game to be realistic, that’s just how it has to be. It won’t matter for dogfighting as much though. It’ll just mean people have to be mindful of how they merge.

I’d like to see those. And the G has to be sustained. Any planes can pull 15G for 0.2 seconds and be fine.
Specifically because the Eurofighter is rated for 9G sustained in wartime config with a distinct 24 degree limit on the AoA. I’ve heard the EFT can pull 10-11G for short bursts in “emergencies” which means it can’t and shouldn’t sustain it…

there is a difference tho in how they affect the flight performance

red line would be an AoA limit
green line a G-Limit

important to note:
you rate can be higher than you AoA
20° STR =/= 20° AoA
but your rate cannot exceed the G-Limiter

Raptor is not AoA limited and I’m not sure if F-35 is unstable but if it is it can pull a lot of AoA

i dont think so
but most if not all modern fighters still have a FCS to icrease safty and to reduce maintainence

and some of them are able to turn it off
pretty well know example is the Flanker with the “Cobra button”

I’m 99% sure it’s unstable in pitch. Idk about yaw though.

when

You can’t really turn off FCS for unstable jets or FBW jets all you can do is loosen the limits I think

i know

i just said that there are modern jets, that are able to turn off the FCS
not that unstable designes are able to

Have you seen the leaks on the newer jets, how do you think they gonna deal with it ?

Any news on planned technical works?

Not this late.

Are we getting the updated tomorrow? This has been a lot longer wait time than other updates since the dev server opened.

Apparently not- there was no planned technical works announcement.

its joever

One Rafale did reach 11G during a demonstration
not exactly a life or death situation

The issue is that the pilot are taking Gs like it’s nothing in game, but that’s mostly true for every plane

Fairly certain Gripens have a “hard limit” of 12Gs

Is the Aspide 1A missile the only Fox 1 missile that can be directed to a jamming zone?

I mainly play the Chinese and a lot the J8B in sim I noticed for a very long time that the Aspide 1A missile manages to hit the targets even when the radar of the J8B was in distress because of the chaff, I tested other missiles of the AIM 7 family (except the P version) and having tested them all I find that the Aspide 1A is the best AIM 7 of the game, it may not have the range of the AIM 7M but in a situation where the enemy plane chaffs enormously with evasive maneuvers I find that the Aspide 1A has more chance of hitting

while doing research I learned that the Aspide 1A was probably equipped with a “HOJ” (home-on-jam) and one of the only other missiles identified with a HOJ in the sparrow family is the AIM 7M and P, difficult at my level to make real comparisons or to find all the information I turned to an AI which confirmed to me that the Aspide 1A was technologically more advanced than the latest version of the AIM 7 and which also confirms my feeling

but with all the parts that I was able to do I notice that the Aspide 1A is the only Sparrow that will cross chaff to hit its target if the missile is close enough

(I would like to point out that the Aspide 1A can guide itself alone in the terminal approach phase without radar detection from the firing aircraft and in a chaff environment.)
