I do worry that better SPAA essentially overshadows the CAP role as well which is just as vital as CAS (not to mention making CAP’s life harder).
I foresee instances where CAP planes just can’t engage CAS properly without getting taken down by these high performing SPAA, leaving the team in the same place as it was before

I’ve pretty much stopped flying between ~6.7 and 12.0(air) because gunfighters and IRAAM slingers get mauled pretty badly by most SPAA. People are so worried about CAS they forget some of us would rather deal with them in fighters rather than SPAA.

The correct way to do it would have something like an F-16/18 or maybe an F-15E use HARM’s or other weapons with similar effect to destroy AA then send in air superiority and heavy strike loaded jets (or maybe have air superiority trailing behind at high altitude and speed), but obviously we do not have any of those weapons.
The other way from my understanding is to use survivable fighters such as the F-22 to be able to provide air superiority in contested areas

Yeah. That’s yet another issue. Unless someone basically decides to sacrifice their own battle activity and play CAP from really far away, and as sneaky as possible, it’s basically a waste of time. And then when that guy gets shot down? No more CAP, probably can’t spawn a backup for it.
something like a HARM or ALARM, which many planes can carry without a huge impact to their a2a loads, would be ideal for this purpose.

HARM and ALARM are only good against SPAA its much less of an issue than even a JDAM if you are in a tank
yes, but that also disable the only mean for ground player against cas, what stopping your team spawning 2 plane 1 with full arm loadout and 1 with full a2g loadout? nothing, and that will make ground a free rp again

i also think they should add AA with more intercept capability like CRAM truck or IM-SHORAD and buff munition destruction rewards so an ARM launch is not guaranteed to destroy an AA
air superiority should be a struggle for both sides
so to play ground, you should also grind the whole air tech tree??? where is the fairness in that logic?
yea nobody want to play a vehicle that its only job is to destroy munition, unless 1 destroyed munition = the reward for downing 1 plane
you can have your arm in grb after patriot, s300 etc become playable, or have ai aa in spawn that its only job is shootng down munition
even the CRAM has the ability to deal with close aircraft, helicopters, and UAV’s.
the IM-SHORAD is much better at this and can even do AT work with its hellfires.
they could utilize the multi vehicle mechanic to make the top tier SHORAD more resistant to large attacks
so is close aircraft is here with us in top tier grb? cause everytime i play top tier the closest any cas is still in 6km range and thats only heli with fnf, plane never closer than 10km
if its that bad to you then cant they just thow it in as an optional 3rd vehicle, for say an IM-SHORAD so you arent stuck with only the C-RAM?
or just leave the current plane a2g munition as is and continue to improve ground first, for like 2 year, as long as top tier cas been undefeatable
so most nations should be left with their 1980’s mavericks against SLM’s and S1’s while ground gets better and better SPAA? dealing with Kh-38MT is fair but only 1 nation gets those
