"Because we don’t currently have any plans for the non gun armed version. As I mentioned, its much more limited in its use and role. Given the L-39s current BR with a gun, one without is even more restricted and far less useful.
There were also other differences beyond just the gun."
Also if gaijin is going to make russian helis invisible to IR missiles, they would do well to model the doppler blade return, so that fox-3s can lock them no issue
Fair enough. In hindsight I shouldn’t have been too suprised it ends up being real, seeing as Gaijin doesn’t mind adding and working on borderline dead gamemodes.
If Benelux, India, or Switzerland cant have their own tech trees, and considering how Czech vehicles are being added to the USSR, its likely they won’t get their own TT either. And if we also consider the five line limit per tech tree, I have to say the only logical step forward is for the game to keep expanding through new branches within the existing national trees (infantry, submarines, carriers, etc.).
Naval was split into two branches, and submarines will probably be a third. Infantry will be its own independent branch, I’d say thats a given. Enlisted doesnt matter. Unlike wargamings model, where each game is separate, Gaijin has always boasted about having everything in a single game. Infantry is inevitable. Wargaming has no problem expanding its titles because their content is pure fantasy.
War Thunder, on the other hand, will need to introduce other military branches to keep adding content with every update. And in that sense, infantry shooters have always been popular and offer almost unlimited potential for new content.
First off DIRCM has been in the game for years. Second I did my own testing. Compared to LIVE AGM-65G, SPIKES and likely PARS are now affected by it, KH-38MTs seeker is affected but I think its IOG keeps it on course so effectively no change. AGM-65D remains unaffected. Which points to gaijin changing AGM IR Seekers and not the DIRCM.
Ignore the lines with DIRCM?
IRIS-T has a line-scan seeker: 128x2 which scans 64 lines 80 times per second to build a 128x128 picture. If the lines which show the DIRCM get ignored, the rest of the plane/heli becomes visible again.
The intensity will vary either way, so you could just focus on the center with the strongest light by measuring the intensity per pixel. Or the seeker itself reduces its sensitivity to reduce overblend.
It wont since IIR like a few guidance types arent modelled in game. Good thing you still have saclos missile carriers. Also good thing the russian helis are currently off meta and therefore rare when compared to the fixed wing cas.
Is any of this stuff actually in any of the missiles though? Or is it just speculative ways to beat modern DIRCM. If it was so easily negated I don’t think multiple upper level militaries would still be going for it
