It’s mostly found on long range SAMs. Those things are almost ballistic missiles, and just like a modern ARH carried by a plane, will usually loft very aggressively

But not when target is 2km away. Also this is not against an air target, nothing would also do such a sharp turn which drains so much energy. Also how does the IR seeker keep track. I really don’t know wtf is on with this ‘20G missile’
You do get that that just means it can be demounted, the same way the F-14A should have an optional IRSTS.
The same argument could be made to request an image of the YaK-141 with the IRST blister actually mounted.

Joke aside, in the video, mistral lofts for a target that is quite literally 2 clicks away, so it’s still possible, and the further away the target is, the more interesting lofting is, so i don’t see a problem here, except for the fact that the turn looks abnormally sharp as you pointed out
The mistral was however fired at a surface target so loft could also be for tracking purpose in case something gets in the way. There is no reason a 12km missile should do that.

Mistral doesn’t really make the difference between an air and ground target, it lofts either way.

It’s not a great loft like an AIM-120, R-77 or whatever, but it still lofts a bit
As for the reason, even on short ranges, trajectory shaping can be interesting, as long as it doesn’t make you maneuver too hard. Secondly, it helps the missile clear the ground when firing at something low (or on the surface), as you pointed out.

wrong way around, it means it can be mounted, last time i checked the f-14a wasnt in service with an IRST
Idk but the some German helicopter suggestions were ported from the old forums (RIP) which include Bo-105 PAH-2 or BK-117 suggested. Ypu might want to check them out
I specifically question why we didn’t get PAH-2 in the first place

if this is not OP i dont know whats OP anymore, thank you devs!!! for taking away our only way to deal with russian helicopters because IR missile didnt work the new IR ones also dont work because they got nerfed and NOW also AGMs does not work amazing! what a good job here fomenting the MI, KA cancer/spam in 8v8 squadron battles and ground rb thank you soo much!! the whole community that was affected by this for atleast 1 year and a half its very gratefull, coincidentally the only SPAA capable of deal with this its the pantsir and guess guys!!! its also a russian vehicle!!! lmao. say hello to the new russian META in ground RB and 8v8 Squadron battle guys!

the L-39ZO is not unarmed tho. That variant was used by Germany and Hungary and it had rockets,bombs and R-3S
