Some smoke grenades have no chaff elements, not all. Which is more than enough for the devs to just make a blanket above ‘X’ BR all smokes will be multi-spectral.
Edit: or just making APS systems more widespread, which solves the problem similarly
hm, well apparently the stealth buff to Comanche has pretty much made it nearly impossible to lock with IR missiles, saw someone testing with 9M and couldnt get a lock on the Comanche till 900 meters
and given that Brimstone is immune to that smoke. There is probably going to need to be some ahistorical modeling done anyway with regard to that smoke if that is the route they plan to take.
But they cant withheld MMW forever that is for sure. Because others most nations wont get FnF f or their helis or jets
it seems that radars can detect at around 11km now, but consistent radar locks dont happen till 9km. Fox 3’s seem to really not like the Comanche ATM with the new RCS modifier
I dont know. They seem to treat Tpods as much as a balancing tool as any other weapon. Quite a few I think could get later Tpods that are already in game. let alone some pretty notable buffs for some already in game.
Hmm… maybe ive been unlucky. Though with regard to Aim-9M locking a heli/commanche, its lock ranges are massively nerfed currently. So that might help a bit
But there is also just scouting. I know one of the most valuable things the Typhoons could do during Op Shader was scout for ground forces using the Sniper. Even send real-time footage down to the commanders on the ground
the lock ranges for IR missiles against Heli’s from what i can tell are realistic simply thanks to how exhaust is ejected on a heli and how Heli’s simply dont move fast enough to have their skin drenched in heat via intense friction and where engines are positioned, but the Comanche dials the IR signature down by a substantial amount altho i dont know the exact methods besides screwing with the exhaust
