Major Update "Leviathans" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Speed yes, Turning yes

Radar the worst 14.0
Payload the worst 14.0

Its easy to get caught up in the Typhoon is top 2/3 when in the meta we have it’s barely 3rd.

Now with a reliable Radar absolutely, but as it stands Typhoon is miles behind Rafale and in terms of Meta probably equal/just behind the Su-30SM.

F-15s new missile and similar flight performance/speed could supplant Typhoon further.
We really need to see how it plays out.

That’d be really cool if the maps weren’t 20ft by 20ft and have this weird requirement where the spawns can see into eachother.
Maybe they could add some kind of large scale pvp or pvpve mode where logistics could be useful. A mode where the non-meta vehicles that are already in the game could get a chance to shine… maybe some kind of… enduring confrontation… between the two teams.

It’s absolutely and easily 2nd best in wvr at 14.0 and contested 2nd best in BVR, maybe as a really close 3rd.

Like I have played the F/A-18C, F-15E, F-15I, FGR.4 and Rafale and your lack of experience with anything rank VIII/14.0 outside the British tree really shows. Even more so when you say something like:

With emphasis on the “similar flight performance” part.

WVR…no HOB forced to use Aim9M
Yes its useable but not one of the best.
Guns only fights sure…remind me the last time in air rb you had a guns only dogfight? Doesnt happen everyone returns to base to rearm.

But sure my 9M vs an R-73, MICA its basically the same thing.

British tree or not blame Gaijin for making the grind and any joy to be had from progressing in other trees none existent.

Italians, Germans and Brits all agree Typhoons radar is terrible. Why are you expecting an F/A-18 or F-15 to match an EF?

As mentioned numerous times Typhoon is a BVR jet it doesnt have the tools to deal with Rafales or even Su-30s in closer ranges.

So fix the radar and maybe give it a new beat stick.

Wait we actually all agree on something?

The longer i look at the Sentinel radar, the more i think it should not have the rear facing beam.

This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.

We both know based on data mines and bug reports Typhoon is to receieve no changes this update.
It will continue with the same poor radar, incorrect fm and no new missiles.

Lets revisit this when the meta has settled.

Yes as a British main the game can be painful seeing weapon systems we have diluted massively because Gaijin doesn’t want them to be effective is rough.

Can I ask out the Jets you have unlocked which one is your most enjoyable to fly?

The Eurofighter

I have top tier in the following nations:

  • USA
  • Germany
  • Russia
  • France
  • Sweden

Tbh I dislike flying the Rafale bc it is just too easy

Not him but a couple weeks ago in my Rafale. Ended how you’d expect, enemy Su-30 third partied 4 R-77s and killed both of us. Until yesterday I hadn’t touched air because that made me so mad.

Fun to fly order for me would be: Rafale > EFT > F-15E/I > F/A-18C(late)

Rafale just being sooo dominant mostly explains why it’s most fun, but also screwing around doing crazy MICA launches is just funny.

EFT is second because it’s more fun all round, you aren’t limited to a certain role as much as the Rafale and F-15E, although you are also not as good in their specialities.

F-15E is fun to BVR with, but you are pretty limited to that. Get to close to an EFT/Rafale/Su-30/Hornet and I’ll likely get my ass kicked.

18C I just dislike entirely. So many games you are too slow to get to WVR ranges and because you are so slow you also barely get to BVR because the EFT/F-15E/EFT take most of those kills.

EDIT: ron_23 is right though that the Rafale being so strong can also make it less fun to fly.

I am jealous of fun MICA things!

I do think the F/A-18C needs a Naval game mode option with carriers for it to be useable as it’s set up for different missions and high altitude BVR is not one of them

Who knows, maybe in the future a wild Rafale or Mirage 2000 might appear in the British tree.

Either that or they make the grind more accessible, which would be a good thing imo, because if you don’t have time or money (or preferably both) it can take a while.

Except that doesn’t apply here since the CAPTOR-M is horribly modelled and randomly breaks lock when it very much shouldn’t. At 14.0, the only jets worse than the Typhoon are the F/A-18s due to their poor flight performance.

I wouldn’t put it pass them now tbh especially with the F-2A being a top tier premium.
But seems to be when people were speaking about Britain not getting a Hornet because of the skins,
they seem to forgotten this line : " The following camouflages (including the ones created by War Thunder Live users) have been permanently added to the game for Golden Eagles:"

Hopefully not.

Yeah it’s broken and should be fixed, but then again ever since the update that added TWS+ every non ESA radar has been worse.

Instead of fixing the EFT radar they seem to have broken other radars to a lower level.

I would take the EFT over the F-15E most times when it comes to playing the better aircraft (pre patch so both have 120Bs, can’t really talk about the future meta yet with C-5s still being weird on the dev).

Being extremely solid all round > being good at only 1 thing and bad at the other

The Typhoon is far from solid at BVR.

Not really they now perform similar to the Captor-m before the addition of TWS+

TWS+ made the Captor-m even worse

It easily beats the Rafale and F/A-18C a bvr, it’s not even close.

It’s arguably shared second best at BVR at best, close third best at worst. The Su-30SM has better radar and more missiles, but the EFT is a much better launch platform.

So yeah that is solid.

Exactly what I said, instead of fixing the Captor M, they have (intentionally or unintentionally) made other radars worse instead.

I never said that they are on the same level of bad as the captor M. Just that they are not these perfect radars that some people make them out to be.
