Yes! It would still have vulnerable magazines, but at least it would have advantages to make up for that vulnerability.
The issue with American BBs right now is that they have many artificial weaknesses while practically their only strength is their armor- which is quite often negated by these nerfs.
That being said, there’s a few ocassions where American BBs are VERY survivable if the rival fails to hit the barbettes. So, even if they are generally a pain to play with, they also have their moments once in a while.
Honestly, I understand if they got either the shell room nerf, OR the reload nerf. Peak standards would probably be a bit too powerful, even more so than Scharnhorst.
I just find having BOTH nerfs to be excessive; going from one extreme to the other.

Since barbette armor started working again I can’t really complain about Tennessee’s durability at least. It’s annoying when you get randomly magazined but I die less often in it than Mutsu for example. Kill a bit less too, but it feels more durable to me. Shell room hits should stop killing your turret I think, unless they add an unrepairable module mechanic in some form to ships can’t replace their turrets five times with no consequence.

Oh, interesting! I forgot that there was a bug that led barbette armor to be practically bypassed, and that it was fixed.
I may give Tennessee a try tomorrow!
35 knots was done I believe exactly once by New Jersey, which doesn’t have the thicker bulkhead. However the Iowas will be strong in game regardless, people grossly underrate the effective armor thickness on them.
Their only combat vehicle is the spitfire that I mentioned. Everything else was search and rescue oriented
