On the Harrier subject is their any plans to further Buff the First gen Harriers and fix the way the flap deployment works? As well as increasing AOA limit in virtual instructor to a useable limit.
This is critical in the Sea Harrier whose primary role is a fighter aircraft. Even in the Shars HUD the AOA symbology goes all the way to 20 degrees AOA not 16. The flap deployment was instrumental as well as it allowed more G to be pulled and Higher AOA to be sustained before buffet occurred.
The Wing is fitted with 2 sets of dogtooth extensions and loads of vortex generators and it was known for having really good High ADD and heavy buffet handling.
AV8B NA (180cm, 10840kgf, combat attacker version)
T.10 (60cm, 9940kgf, trainer combat version)
Same BR for airRB and groundRB
No JDAM either if thats you plan for SimRB
Yeah the missiles it will face make 60 flares a joke. You have 9M’s from the A-10C, R-73’s from the Su-25T/39/BM/SM3, Magic 2’s from the Jaguar IS and Mirage F1’s.
All of those will take enough CM’s to flare off so that after 2 minutes you’re left with nothing to defend yourself with.
This isn’t taking into account the non-IRCCM missiles you will face that just won’t care about your flares in this thing like 9L’s, R-60M’s, and Pl-5B’s which themselves might as well be IRCCM when fired at any Harrier rear aspect which every missile will be fired at due to the FM.
60 Flares for this thing aren’t nearly enough for it. Even with BOL flares being weaker they should be enough to have a chance at flaring these by dumping as many as possible.
However, I’m sure Israel could have received a “transitional” solution. In fact, just last year many nations received multiple SPAAs in 10.3 (Osa and Strela for the USSR, Germany, Italy, and Great Britain) even though there wasn’t a real and urgent need—as is the case with Israel.
Before that, some nations even received SPAAs from third countries that weren’t even integrated into their ground tree: the Ito90 for France and Sweden; the Canadian ADATS for Great Britain; the Czech M53/59 for the USSR; and the Canadian Skink for the US and Great Britain.
How is it possible that a solution for Israel still hasn’t been found? Their best SPAA is a U.S. copy paste of the BR 9.7. I understand there’s a gap between the BR 9.7 and 12+, but when they’ve wanted to, they’ve always found a reasonable solution.
I’ll go ahead and list the disadvantages of the T10 so far then when compared to a different harrier model at the same BR:
AV-8B NA -
Spoiler
Worse engine,
Worse CM count
Worse CAS capability
Worse FM (heavier and worse TWR)
Worse CM dispersion
Worse TGP (TIALD vs LITENING)
Worse RWR and no Radar
Worse cannon (ADEN vs Rotary 25mm)
Equivalent IR missiles
Equivalent cockpit visibility (for sim)
Equivalent top speed (slower to reach it though)
Equivalent Maverick count
And most of these issues could be amended with BOL and the fixing of the harrier FM generally lol
Even though the Harrier underperforms still, has no ability to VIFF, is limited severely in AOA for no reason, I can still almost beat an F-18 close in.
This fight would have been over on the 2nd or 3rd turn if I could pull 20 degrees AOA in mouse aim.
