Major Update "Hornet Sting" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 4)

i dont know ive only got this far because ive been 1v1ing beta veterans who still play who just take typhoon every fight and climb to space with 6 120Bs im in f15C and i sometimes scrape a win in but not often so i dont even know any more dont know if i have what it takes to actually get good at toptier anymore

agreed. I just use fox 3 as a longer range sidewinder, i almost never do more than 15km launches and that’s only to try and get the last guys attention

Yeah, im usually firing them within (or near) the LSZ

I dont even have my radars switched on most of the time, just quickly gain locks to lob a missile and back off it goes to not trigger RWRs

Yeah, thats fair, but thats the diference between ARB and ASB

you play typhoon a lot id assume what can you do to counter them

I do and I dont. Honestly, the radar just frustrates me and the Typhoon vs Typhoon gameplay in ASB gets rather stale.

In an ARB context I dont really know. In ASB I would say attack from an unexpected alt or direction and you’ll get shots off before the Typhoons radar has even found you.

what if he knows where you are

J out?

I dont really know to be honest. Assuming you are in an F-15 and therefore dont have any meaningful AAM advantage like MICA or Magic IIs do on the Rafale.

Avoid the merge?

Keep the Typhoon defending at range?

we are always in visual range so I don’t need a radar saying where the furball is

can i ask you one more thing if your energy fighting is the F15E better or typhoon

Typhoon.

Much higher TWR

i really hope america gets there 4.5 soon XD cause im not gonna be having fun till then

Much like the year of Tornado F3 vs F-16.

Dont merge.

You do have a higher top speed and 8x AMRAAM. Use them. Stick at range, or make fast hack and slash attacks. If you try and gunfight a Typhoon, then you’ve already lost.

thanks ive fought them but the typhoon and rafale and J10 are just cracked so i dont understand how to win in 1v1s anymore so ill keep this in mind

Wrong. 9M can literally be beaten by flying straight and staying in afterburner when it’s launched rear aspect.

not if its fired in its effective range.

Incorrect. Unlike the gatewidth IRCCM missiles, the 9M will be able to see flares until it is nearly flying up the exhaust.

You could just play F-15E, one of the strongest aircraft ingame.

Plenty of fun to be had there.

Eh… I’d say Magic II are harder to defeat than Aim-9M when fired at close range, but Magic IIs will go for flares when fired at longer ranges, whilst Aim-9Ms IRCCM will be equally effective regardless of range. But… with the right tactic can be defeated equally easily at any range.

Which is better really comes down to context. They are different, but to say which is “better” changes rapidly
