Given one of the Blue Vixen’s primary design requirements was to detect, track and engage sea-skimming ASMs. It was definetly precise
AIM 54C needed the extra range to hit as of accuracy simulated with aim54 85% hit rate against manuvering targets
Who would guess a radar built from lessons learned by ripping the argies a new one would make a radar like that?
so it was already behind by then, seeing as by 1994 we had AESA radars flying, and the Japanese had them before that.
Yep, or simply what is built when the RN isnt having to kneecap themselves to get a decent aircraft+radar combo.
Blue Fox was basically designed to be a very limited radar. One the RN knew would be insuffecient for actual combat, but it needed to be if the MOD was going to let them have any jets,
how many of those targets were like 30 foot off sea level going Mach jesus? where the tomcats radars older tech struggles? War thunder players know exactly whats coming and what to do as soon as there’s smoke in the air. a simulated target isn’t doing that
aim54 dont see it dont make smoke and these targets where not a sealevel but where vigourously manuevering like they where locked so idk
tis just a phrase. You see the trails from the tomcats up high and your RWR has a seizure. its obvious whats being spammed at you and what you need to do you counteract it
my question is would you see those trails at 90+ NM away ?
is war thunder played at 90 nautical miles?
no but it be fun according to the player base
Like is the major issue with basically any contrail in any context within war thunder…
Context matters here. Maybe, Maybe not. But War thunder does contrails badly.
But I would still be fairly confident that most half decent RWRs would still detect the threat just fine and that a shot at 90 NM would have so little energy that anything other than a Tu-95 would be able to defend with ease
there we have it
for tomcats only. (until meteor and other ultra long range AAMs arrive) even then war thunder doesn’t really lend itself well to BVR. also the average player in the playerbase is a buffoon, people asked for a map specifically like attica and now hate it so why would anything be different
nah basically everyone glazzes it like its the best thing ever i dont understand fox-3 combat i dont like it i enjoyed when it was AIM-7M against R27ER
Or more specifically. ARB.
Everyone taking off and originating from a fixed point flying towards the other team who did the same and also not having to actually use the radar to find a target, only point the radar at something with a marker and then fire whilst well within range to do so even basically from spawn to spawn. Just makes BVR combat pretty dry.
in ASB, BVR combat is pretty fun. Been a while, and I rarely play them, but did have an F3 vs F-14A engagement in the ASB, and that was rather fun.
i just dont get it got lost on the way its hard in comparsion i rack up 4-2 kills games in F4E at 11.3 we move to 14.0 i get maybe 1 to 2 kills everyones like its skill based yap yap yap
ARB gamemode design/map design barely can cope with 11.0-12.0 aircraft.
it felt like it struggled quite a bit with the 12.0-13.0 stuff we had beginning of last year
Its totally dismal for 13.0+
If you want to get into better top tier gameplay. Play ASB or GSB.
an RB EC gamemode is desperately needed
i dont know ive only got this far because ive been 1v1ing beta veterans who still play who just take typhoon every fight and climb to space with 6 120Bs im in f15C and i sometimes scrape a win in but not often so i dont even know any more dont know if i have what it takes to actually get good at toptier anymore
agreed. I just use fox 3 as a longer range sidewinder, i almost never do more than 15km launches and that’s only to try and get the last guys attention
Yeah, im usually firing them within (or near) the LSZ
