Its actually even funnier. Say someone grinds the entire US coastal through sweat and blood, reaches USS Coolbaugh (300k RP + the rest of the TT) and finds out that his ship is stricly worse in all regards than USS Aylwin (like 5k RP, r ank 1). ON THE SAME 4.0 BR. Not even gonna bring up premium BR blackhole (cough cough Moffet 5.0 and every match is +1). Cherry on top - same spawnpoint. What happens then?
I would gladly buy a high tier premium coastal to boost my way through the grind, but its 6k GE for something that is overall worse than an equivalent BR premium destroyer that would cost about 250-500 GE.
They really need to do something with coastal high tier
Ye, and the best part is that what you just described is pretty much exactly what we had before coastal/bluewater split. Like when we had karl something, premium german DD as THE grinder and alike. Cruisers and above were a mistake.

Fortifications, mg points, AI vessels.
My perfect coastal mode would be something like a harbour assault for certain amount of players, something like a dungeon-equivalent from MMORPGs with bosses in a form of big ships and some unique rewards, unlimited respawns, but hard enough enemies and leaderboard with fastest games. Example of the map would be Valletta port. Though it’s maybe too much of my weird imagination 😆

But looking at the PvE content currently ingame… I cry. They need to get another studio in to make PvE content that isn’t just aimbot tanks or WW2 bombers in a square…
Interesting concept but everything you named can be done by bluewater ships wayy better

Japan gets a Malaysian F-18D and Indonesian Su-30SMK2 and that’s it. 2 top tier air vehicles and the update is done.
I mean, better yet if they could find ways to fit both bluewater and coastal into a PvE mode for certain roles!
Water too shallow for bluewaters to enter, foes too heavily-armed and armored for coastal to deal with!

They don’t need a new studio. The only way War Thunder survives is if Gaijin themselves brings in a modern PVE experiences.
Cause while the PVP aspect is 100,000 - 220,000 players every 30 minutes [not necessarily unique players], that could very well drop to almost nothing and the game needs to be playable regardless of player count.
Even then that is extreme case
Anything a coastal vessel can do a bluewater ship can do, with few exceptions
such as operate in areas of shallow water.

Considering their current PvE offerings, I’d really rather they bring in another studio to do it for them. I don’t have much faith in them with the way they treat their non-PvP modes currently…
What about going under low bridges, navigating rivers, popping out from smaller islands/rocks?
Map designers would have to get creative, sure, but there are a lot of ways to give Coastal and Bluewater their own niches
doesnt matter when the guns can reach wherever the ship cant in most cases
only way coastal is good is when used in numbers or really specific situations (where aircraft can do the job)
