Have the developers shared any response to the LRF, stabiliser, thermal imager, or missing APFSDS of the Marder Clovis? The brochure says it should have these things.
WT started off as an air combat game
When we have full details to share on them we will. Many aspects are still in progress and subject to change, as the blog states.
“Started off as an air combat game”… and 6 months later tanks were already unveiled and on closed Beta test; and just a few months later it already had tanks xd.
It’s not like it was “a plane game where tanks were an afterthought”, as some have suggested.
Tanks were always planned, they simply took a little longer (few months) because they had to begin development from scratch, while the air portion was essentially ported from Birds of Steel.
The code in the game suggests otherwise )))
A lot of the tank codes in game are still using air related codes, even down to calling tank crews as “pilots” iirc, so it’s safe to say tanks were an afterthought that came about sometime between development and existing.
And ?
Tanks are a big part of the game for years now.
Nah
An afterthought of a few months between the game’s first beta release and the Ground Forces reveal…?
And somehow, in just those few months, Gaijin already had enough Ground material prepared for showcases and trailers?
Ground Forces were already in Closed Beta just 1 year after the Air Beta ; November 13rd, 2013. And all of it didn’t just spawn out of thin air.
I’m sorry, but I really, REALLY hate the notion/argument that “War Thunder is a plane game with tanks added as afterthought” because it diminishes the importance and relevance of Ground xD
Spoiler it, please ;_;
Holy… spoiler, please!
People don’t play top tier GRB becuase of the imbalance between air a ground mechanics. And the lack of top vehicles that could make the scale more balanced. A ton of people dont even go past 11.0, because of this. Top tier fixes aren’t impossible, they just aren’t prioritized
I know,
but it is what it is. Gaijin has air combat roots. Will always be their first priority.
I joined after the Tank addition, after watching Phly’s and Baron’s YT videos, driving the best modelled (at the time) of a Tiger I in Kuban (it was pretty different looking back then)
spoilered it.
my bad lol, should be spoilered now
LOL for a moment I thought mod deleted the post due to “secret document”.
aah was wondering why it went goofy when I tried to edit it lol
exactly what I thought …
like, here we go again, another “days without leak in WT” memes on social sites
Gaijin were the most efficient gaming company back then, then.
Back in 2013, they were actually an indie company with just a few developers allocated to War Thunder.
How fast and efficient they must have been, to, in just a few months, develop the Russian and German Ground Tech Trees, several Ground maps, and all of the mechanics, sounds and engine and graphics implications that the Ground Forces Beta Test involved!
The conversation can move elsewhere, It’s starting to go too off-topic.
