So is the F-4 Phantom…
To the point where it replaced all naval strike jets? and they gave it the “A” prefix?
I know, but the way the game has handled multirole aircraft so far, unless that was ALL it did (and it certainly wasn’t all F/A-18A/C did, while it was all F/A-18D did in USMC AW squadrons) it wouldn’t be classed as a regular jet fighter.
F-15E, more capable as a fighter than F-15C, classified as strike aircraft ingame because it was used by squadrons with dedicated strike functions.
Navy squadrons did both.
USMC had F-18C squadrons that did both, and F18D squadrons that specialized.
USAF had F-16 squadrons that specialized, in either.
I think F-18A/C/E/F are Jet Fighter/Naval Fighter, F/A-18D and E/A-18G are Strike Fighter as best way to do it ingame.
I would very much enjoy this kind of gameplay.
I’m cool with this. What I REALLY care about is that they are classified different for Spawn Points purposes. Their tree location I care less about.
We’ll have to wait and see what designations they give it. The F-15E is the best fighter in the US tree whilst being a “strike fighter” and the Sea Harrier FRS1 is classed as a strike fighter despite being a naval fighter and britains only fighter between 9.7 and 12.0.
So designations are entirely random at times imo
and F3D being an attacker despite being a night fighter
or 2s38 being a light tank instead of spaa
F-15E Strike Aircraft makes sense, both for gameplay and historical purposes. FRS1 is pretty ???
That should not be changed. Its teh best IFV in the game and should not cost 70 SP because its an SPAA
There were plenty of strike fighter squadrons that swapped from A-7s to F/A-18s
and like you say the F-15E is a strike fighter despite also being a multirole aircraft
it also makes sense from a progression perspective since otherwise the F/A-18E is going to be locked behind at least 800k RP when the update drops, which is hardly what you want from one of the poster vehicles of the update
Except when your name is Gaijin and you make a ton of dosh on people who gold their way to the plane
800
800
EIGHT HUNDRED WHAT
It’s more about the line in the tree than the classification it gets in game, it could be a strike aircraft in line 3 or a fighter in line 4 or a fighter in line 3 or a strike aircraft in line 4
The point is just because its a “strike fighter” doesnt mean its bad in A2A and vice versa. F-16C has arguably equal A2G performance of the F-15E.
Plenty of examples where fighters are good in ground attack or were used for both IRL (like the Phantom FGR2) or strike fighters being good for A2A or maybe even better suited for A2A than the “fighter” equivalent like the F-15E or maybe even the strike fighter should be classed as a fighter
(for the F-15E I do think for “balancing reasons” it should be classed as a fighter. Because it is still a highly capable multirole and can do both roles. No other nation can spawn a multirole with a fighter designation and then spawn a seocnd multirole with the strike fighter designation)
Yeah don’t get me started…
(Triple the amount of CMs for the F-16A Netz when gaijoobles?!)
For that yes, though I would guess the argument could be made that it would still undertake those ground strikes from a carrier and so could be in either line
Besides manuvablity this is incorrect. The F15E is WAY better by miles. It can fly so much higher and is faster giving its weapons way more range.
Incorrect, the 2S38 is an SPAA variant of the BMP-3 and should be classed as such in game.
However, it should also have a BR increase to compensate for the lowered cost, and would of course lose it’s Scouting skill.
It needs a BR increase either way but let’s not start that.
They both have 6x AGM-65Ds which is the important part imo
