If it doesn't come this patch, it will come at some point.
I am personally unsure whether we will see the base model A. I do believe it would definitely fit in game and would absolutely love to see it get added.
The base model A would more than likely sit at ~12.7, receiving AIM-9Ls and AIM-7F/Ms. There is not much to talk about with the base-A model, it’s simply the weakest of the Hornets and would sit at a lower BR because of that.
F/A-18A+ 🇺🇸
If it doesn't come this patch (ie. we get the C as a premium instead), it may come at some point. However it'll be less likely to come in the US tree if it doesn't come now.
Of course the A+ was already leaked, but we do not know for sure whether it will come instead of the C. Ideally Gaijin would add the A+ as the premium Hornet and NOT the F/A-18C.
There are 2 ways the A+ could come to the game.
1.) With AIM-9Ms and AIM-120As at ~13.3 or (more likely) 13.7
2.) With AIM-9Ms and AIM-7M/Ps at 13.0
Seeing as the A+ would be able to take more AIM-7s than the base-A model it would make for an interesting upgrade while still being unique. The A+ would also have worse engines than the C, meaning it would be worse but still unique. Whether they give it AMRAAMs or not is up for debate, but I’m personally expecting Gaijin to add it with AMRAAMs anyways because it would likely sell/appeal more.
F/A-18C 🇺🇸
It will definitely come to the USA at some point - either as a premium next patch or some other way. Note that there are also upgraded variants (like from the USMC) that Gaijin can add later.
Just like the A+, the C was leaked as a possible premium. Hopefully Gaijin does NOT make the C a premium. It should either be in the TT or be available as a squadron vehicle. This is the most notable of the Legacy Hornets, so it should be available to anyone without needing to pay $80-$100.
I would fully expect the C to come with AIM-9Ms and AIM-120As, but it’s possible that it could come like I mentioned with the A+ (that is, only receiving 9Ms and Sparrows). However, I think it’s more likely that the C comes with AMRAAMs and sits at 13.7.
F/A-18E 🇺🇸
We know it's coming already.
I am genuinely surprised that we are getting the Super Hornet this patch. I was expecting Gaijin to stick to Legacy Hornets for now and then add the Super Hornets later on with new missiles (eg. AIM-120C-5s, AIM-9Xs, etc.). I do think it will be interesting in game, and I really hope they add it with its AN/APG-79 AESA radar.
For now though, we should expect AIM-9Ms and AIM-120A/Bs at 14.0. The Super Hornet(s) definitely won’t be meta, but they will be interesting vehicles. They’ll mainly be missile busses and could potentially get the AIM-174B in the future (of course alongside other long range Fox-3s).
F/A-18A 🇦🇺, F/A-18F 🇦🇺, and CF-188A 🇨🇦
These are possible, but we simply do not know enough to make a call on it.
The addition of the Commonwealth Hornets highly depends on Gaijin and what their plans are for the UK tech tree. I cannot say whether they will be added because Gaijin could very well decide to throw it in like the US’s A+ and E variants.
F-18C 🇫🇮 and F/A-18C 🇫🇮
We know one of these is coming, we just don't know which one.
The Finnish subtree has an opening at the very end of it after the MiG-21bis. The F-18C explicitly fills that opening, and we should 100% a Hornet to be there next patch. The question is whether we will get the F-18C or the F/A-18C. One has access to AtG weaponry (F/A), the other does not (F). I could see Gaijin choosing to add the F/A-18C later than the F-18C purely to add it with new AMRAAMs and AIM-9Xs, but that’s pure speculation.
F/A-18C 🇨🇭
Very possible, but we do not concretely know Gaijin's plans with Switzerland.
While the Swiss Hornet has been leaked for the past 6 months, Gaijin simply has not announced their plans to add Switzerland to Germany yet. It is entirely possible that Gaijin chooses to add Switzerland this patch in the German TT and Germany gets the F/A-18C. On the other hand it’s entirely possible that Gaijin waits for the addition of AIM-9Xs to add the Swiss Hornet since Switzerland made the jump from AIM-9P-5s to AIM-9Xs without using the AIM-9M. We simply do not know until Gaijin announces things.
EF-18A+ 🇪🇸
We don't know for now, but it does have a place in the game.
The EF-18A+ is essentially an F/A-18A+. It would more than likely go to Italy in the form of either a premium or a squadron vehicle. We have no way of knowing whether Gaijin plans on adding this, so it’s simply unknown but possible for now.
Malaysian 🇲🇾 and Kuwait 🇰🇼 Hornets
While slightly possible, I doubt we will see these represented in game anytime soon.
A Malaysian F/A-18D could end up in the Japanese tree. However, with the recent addition of Thailand, I don’t expect Japan to get another subtree for the near future. Japan also has yet to receive the F-2A, which should be a higher priority for Japan.
Kuwait operated the C/D and E/F Hornets. They could possibly make their way into the Israeli, UK, or US tech trees, but I highly doubt they would be added anytime soon simply because there are better options for the UK and the US, and Israel has weak ties to Kuwait outside of being geographically nearby.

I forgot to mention it, but they could also do:
- F-18C at 13.0 with only AIM-9Ms and AIM-7Ms
- F/A-18C at 13.7 with AtG weaponry, AIM-9Ms, and AIM-120Bs
This could be a better alternative than adding the F-18C with 9M/120B and then the F/A-18C later with 9X/120C-5s. It’s up to Gaijin I guess.
