Kinda more like a modification to an aircraft. The squadron was originally F100F I believe but the idea of “wild weasel” is to use a freind to get a SAM to launch. When that happens they fire an Anti rad missile to kill it.
It is VERY dangerous because you have to hop your friends missile kills the sam site before it kills you.

F-35 is capable of performing AWACS mission, not as good as an E-2 tbf, but combined with data sent from onbaord sensors and other ships, you get a good picture of battlespace
Well same for the Rafale, between the E-2, the data links from ships and all…
It’s not sad it’s effective. This one was a bad mission. The balls on these guys make the success rate what it is.
That’s why I said they F/A-18 growler was better because of the men who fly it.
it works pretty damn well though. even better now with more advanced missiles and aircraft sensors + intel gathering methods
Well still it’s dangerous becuase the SAMs have also improved.
Dunno, using a plane and its pilot as bait for missile as the main technique for doing SEAD remains silly in my eyes.
Not saying it’s effective or not, but you just don’t really value the life of the pilots.

I mean we do, but that idea is why it was and still is the only the best of the best. (It’s lowkey my dream to become a SEAD/Wild weasel pilot)
as a general rule the ships won’t be using their radars, it gives away your position much better than it tells you the enemies
maybe if they used Rafale theyd be in more danger, but in a growler or F-16 they would be fine

I think you have no idea about the stealth capability and EW of the Rafale.
thats a dying breed, F-35 already shown to have quite good EW capabilities, only a matter of time until SEAD is carried out by drones or further upgraded F-35
Im aware. Im just pointing out in WT if we reach that point of progression these downsides will hinder them a little bit in terms of gameplay.
i think you are severely underestimating the stealth capability and EW of a Growler. it has dedicated high power jamming pods with next gen ones on the way

you can still do SEAD with an F-35 or even NGAD
