Japan needs a tech tree, not wants like China, needs, necessity.
South Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore are the primary options.
Indonesia is the only guaranteed addition with backlash if they dare try to add that one to China’s tech tree.

South korea and japan have an alliance with america so giving japan south korean or even american stuff makes as much sense as giving china a russian spaa doesnt it

Japan really does need attention. It is quite sad how forgotten and weak it is. Thailand would be great, as well as Southeast Asia. We can only pray that Thailand goes there now that SEA is taken…

I am still, and will be, of the opinion that North Korea and South Korea should be split between China and independent/ASEAN/Japan.
Yeah I know “but east and west germany are together and so are china and taiwan” yes but I personally think that those two are things that should not have happened, or if they did, should be at least accounted for in some way. The game is losing its asymmetry which makes it so appealing because it is extremely boring to fight the tank you’re in with the same one. Or the exact same plane. Just because they can add stuff together doesn’t necessarily mean they should, at least not with the way current matchmaking works. If they change matchmaking to make it vehicle based instead of nation based then yeah I’m fine with adding them together. But as is, I think it’s a bad idea that will just lead to another China-y tree where its loads of stuff that’s just imported but slightly changed until the very end where unique-ish things actually appear.
Also what’s up with “SEA being taken?” haven’t been following the… news?

To be fair Ariete and Otomatic is not a great choice until the L2A7HU. Before that patch the only ground vehicle that is competitive for Italy is Centauro

I personally think that they should have a clear distinction that Japan is/should be a “Western” style nation/tree. It’s why I’m kind of against the addition of Thailand. In effect its taking a “Western” nation and just chucking a T-80 in there (simplifying). Yes the potential additions are good but like… they did that weird thing where they swapped between Western and Eastern tech and I think that doesn’t really fit in the Japan tree as-is?
