Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

While the su25 does have impressive range for one of its air to ground missile it has to used with a laser. So it does limit the usefulness when you cant really break line of site if someone were to shoot a aim-120 or aim9m at you.

the Tornado Gr1 has access to the PGM 2000 that has a range of 31 miles and is TV guided. I would prefer fire and forget for survivability unless there was air domination and not needing to worry about being shot out of the sky with a slow subsonic plane.

U forgot revolution and the atd i am dissapoi ted

the Gr7 was no where near as broken as the Su25SM3 lmao, it had 4 mavricks at most and those were only Ds back when they kinda sucked. Wanna know the reak big difference? everyone else AA hasnt changes since then except russia

Forgot the ATD mb gang

in theory. My general experience with the PGMs is that they dont want to fire until you have nearly rammed the target.

actually wait no the harrier Gr7 ddint launch with mavs im pretty sure the got added later after we proved it could carry them

The Harrier GR7 launched with AGM-65Ds

it later got 9Ms and 65Gs when the AV-8B+ and Gripen C HU came out respectively

And I didn’t even include ALL of the potential additions here, such as Leopard 2A6M3, etc- and that’s ONLY in terms of MBTs; leaving aside SAMs, IFVs, and LTs. This is also not including any subtrees or new trees.

Gaijin added Ground Rank VIII back in December 2023 and they’ve done literally nothing about it ever since. They made such a mig fuss… for what? To sell Top Tier Premiums? Of course I am looking forward to more Ground Rank VIII material, it’s been nearly a year since it was introduced and has had nothing ever since going for it.

well it will be a few months before i get to fly it but hope for the best. I really do like the tornados after buying the premium and the event tornado. Such great flight performance but lack luster ground munitions. I still hope they fix the anti ship missiles… its so frustrating to use

It had them from launch, but was very very buggy for a while. Especially as you had to cycle through the FLIR and the Tpod and the Mavs TV sight and doing so just broke things. I remember trying to use them in Sim and basically couldnt for the first few months, but then various fixes came and they were usable, but its typically limited to about 10-12km range until more recently

Just because the APS intercepts a dart doesn’t mean it will slow it enough to result in a non pen. At best you’ll reduce spalling or cause a bounce where one normally wouldn’t.

Iron Fist just shoots countermeasures at a 4kg tungsten dart flying at hypersonic speeds, unlike with HEATFS where it detonates it early

Yeah, I erally want sea eagles on the Gr1B, but its not worth it in their current state and yeah. the lack of even CBUs is a real shame. I do think the reception of the Torandos is almost entirely the fact they basically added nothing new. Imagine if in that original december update, Tornados had MW-1/JP233 and BL755s. I think they would have been the bigger update feature than the F-16 or Mig-29

wanna know what was out at the same time with more weapons and countermeasures? the A-10A and the literal next update america also got the F16A with 6 mav-Bs and 2 GBU8s for a single update it might have been tied for the best strike jet but it was no where near as busted as the Su25SM3 was

Italy and Sweden are quite a stretch here. The 2A8ITA is not a thing anymore, the KF-51 for Italy won’t be a thing for next 4 years at least. The Strv 123 won’t be a thing until 2027 at least and even then, it’s just a 2A7V. The 2A8NOR also won’t be delivered until 2027. Sweden’s last option is the 2A7DNK, which is a heavier and worse armoured 2A7V. Well, and the 122C/D ig, which are functionally the same as the A/B.

Of course- on this pic, I didn’t only add things that can be added right now, but also things that can be added in the coming years, proving that Ground is far from being “out of content”.

oh god yeah the FLIR would bug out and stop the sight from working and you couldnt move it, then they fixed it and it was bugged with the screen just going black. didnt they fix it by just deactivating the FLIR when you have a pod?

yeah you can go ahead and condense most of those 2A7s, they wont play differently from the current one in any meaningful way. While the 2A8 is a decent difference it’s nothing revolutionary gameplay wise, a slight armor improvement and the implementation of Trophy.

the T-72B3M is basically in the game in the form of the fully upgraded T-72B3
The BVM 2023 is mostly rumors of differences and likely isn’t any substantial change
T-90M 2024 has been proven to be no real difference from the in game one

Like this list can be condensed to a hilarious amount.
The ZTZ99A2 is literally a different name for the in game ZTZ99A

I’m not gonna sit here and tear this entire list down but it’s the equivalent of if I listed every F-15 between A and EX despite most not being too major in differences.

Yep, which was something I loved actually, the fewer camera modes I need to cycle through in Sim the better. Now I can toggle between cockpit and Tpod directly, without ever looking at the TV sight on the missile, was an amazing addition

Yea i mean at some point adding things just to add them is boring ( looking at the last two Abrams releases )

Lineups, nations, etc.

Otherwise, we would only have 2 Abrams tanks (105 and 129), 2 Shermans (75 and 76), 2 Leopards (2A4 and 2A5), 1 Strv 122, 1 Leclerc, etc… War Thunder has over 3,000 machines as of now- and it would not have even half the amount if they didn’t include variants “because they don’t play differently from their other variants”…
