Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

The ADATS missile has a max range of 10km. 10km is a hard limit. No amount of skill will suddenly make it have more than 10km range.

when you minus 20% for the target moving and not flying in a straight line, that is maybe 8km at best to deal with an aircraft

Most russian cas i find will spawn in and instantly try locking tanks with kh38’s oblivious to the MIM heading right towards them

Nope, I know how to use them, I ranked them in order. I really don’t fear ADATS. It’s the Roland variants that are a problem in my opinion.

Then again, I’m mostly in a plane that can’t avoid the “radar guided” semi-mclos missiles that are in game. I haven’t tried running the Su-27SM in ground because top tier ground is too sweaty to be fun, even though I could do it if I cared. I’m honestly enjoying grinding my J-8F and playing China GRB at 9.0-10.3 to much to do anything else right now.

Q-5L is the goat now btw, Gaijin stay away.

I mean, yeah, I’ve encountered that too, but against multirole fighters that actually maneuver you just don’t stand a chance in the ADATS

But I do think the ADATS will pretty much be even more useless after this update. Gaijin needs to give new top tier spaa to countries other than russia

In case anybody needs proof that it’s Renown:

Yep, I was confused because HMS Renown IRL looks actually rather different

edit, thats a better photo

Can see how much she changed in the refit

Oh man, let me tell you, XM is not fun to play. The moment something pulls 8G or does a left right turn the missile dies.

Not gonna lie, I do think a lot of SPAA players unnecessarily leave their radars on when they’re actually shooting at aircraft. ADATS has IRST IIRC and I know if I was using one, the first thing I’d do is turn the radar off after you identify a target so that they won’t know there is an SPAA aware of them and won’t be on edge.

One of those reasons the Type 81/93 is so dangerous because by being out of the spawn and not using radar (not that we have a choice) we are more or less invisible and a lot of times you see planes just going straight into the AO thinking they’re completely safe.

If not the fact that turning the radar off breaks the lock, it is soo annoying.

The IRST on the ADATS isn’t really reliable from my experience lol, even though the radar doesn’t help with that either, it still is good to keep it on to be able to spot helis hiding between trees and newly spawned CAS

IRT is doing its job just fine for me.

Yeah, though IRST is so easily defeated by a thin layer of cloud though, that you dont always have that choice

Guess I must be very unlucky with clouds then lol

Oh, that…

No one will want to hear my unpopular opinion, so I think I’ll share it. The West presumed they’d fight (and win?) WW3 with Air Superiority. They didn’t develop enough MRAD and SHORAD to have much else to add at this point that isn’t the Patriot people would cream themselves over like they did for a brief moment today earlier.

If you play the US specifically, you should be running an F-14B or and F-15A MSIP II or even whatever the best F-16 is with a little bit of ordinance and at least two AIM-120’s/AIM-54’s. CAP is your Pantsir, sorry not sorry.

At the very least you have a good option to manually aim and when the target has no idea you are shooting at them they won’t evade.

But this is me having to do unorthodox tactics because Japan’s best SPAA is the F-15J(M) lol

Okay, hear me out. This is the Pantsir, but with nimble fighters at 10-12km orbiting outside of your effective envelope and doing a barrel roll every 25 seconds or so.

And it would help player in plane to have more impact in the game, because alone when there is 1 or 2 plane and all the boat of the map fire tons of shells toward them… It’s hard xD

Dont worry, i know that, i have the Pantsir.
Still it gives funny 0 effort kills.
