There isn’t a double standard. After the USSR fell, all of its former satellite states and territories flipped to the blue camp, joining NATO and buying into NATO systems, while still retaining their legacy Soviet kit.
The only nation you could argue this is true for is Britain, but everyone agrees them getting an Indian T-80 and MiG was, and still is, stupid.

I am just opposing that if one party obtains the other party’s vehicle, it cannot prevent the other party from obtaining this party’s vehicle. Moreover, China and Singapore have much stronger ties than Japan and Singapore (common ancestor, joint resistance against Japan during WW2), which is much better than joining Japan as a subtree, a former aggressor country (to be honest, it is really uncomfortable to add the invaded country to the aggressor country)

And Britain honestly has better ties to Singapore then either China or Japan, especially considering the ruckus caused by the leaks of Singapore going to China.
