Dutch “sub tree” is not getting anything past some Leopard 2s under AMX-40. The tree is full of vehicles and have no need or place for a sub tree.
The Benelux or whatever is just an excuse to dump Leopards as Gaijin is not modelling domestic French vehicles or planning to improve the Leclers

When Gaijin gave away the Leopard PSO and the Leclerc AZUR together (both of which were inferior sidegrades vs their predecessors (the old top tier)), the 2 community protested.
Gaijin promised (in a very nice speech that almost only the big 3 are allowed to have) to work on more leopards, not to stop at the PSO, then they got the 2A7 with spall liner short time after, and also the promise of more.
Gaijin has turned its back on France, no promises of new Leclercs, not a word, nothing for the AZUR case. Then the leak on thoses dirty copy pasta Leopards, unwanted and obsolete because we have domestic equipment that can take the place.
Now what ? They have a little lack of top top tier air that gonna be solved in the next months, and they want every plane from every surrounding country for them when domestic EFT is really close ? No thanks.
They are the meta in navy TTs, they are still meta in Ground (look at the differences between Rank VII Germany and Rank VII France, the size difference (10vehicles vs 3, for the laziest)), they have way bigger lineups in every TTs than a majority of other nations.
Germany eat good since a decade in WT, always funny to see them panic when they are SLIGHTLY treated the same as a lot of others nations, but at the end nothing change anyway.

Britain was at least asking vehicles from nations that had a relation to Britian, including options for native stuff to fill the gap.
Germany has spent the last 4 months asking for more countries than Britain ever did and yet Britain mains are still accused of asking for the world. Germany’s need is just far smaller imo. Yes it sucks for nations to not be competitive, but the Tornado ASSTA1 is fine for the most part as would the Tornado ASSTA3.1, with the right equipment. F4F-ICE is perfectly usable, just harder than it is for most nations.
So the immediate need for Germany is just far smaller and thus the idea they need a vehicle from somewhere like Argerntina, just feels really random. Swiss vehicle is a maybe, but that is it, no otehr nation is appropriate or needed for Germany. At which point, you have to wait for the F-18 to be added, which might not have any CAS as it didnt IRL.

It would come out at the same time the F-16C came out, not before. Which meant us Japan mains would have had to wait 9 months at most. Again it woulda sucked but would be far better than the AJ and wouldn’t have opened that pandora’s box. Though if they actually added the AJ as is in the brochure with the gear door sparrows and guided bombs, it would be far better.

In reality I believe it did, actually more than likely the XF-2B used it while the XF-2A was testing other things (though later they were all converted to production anyway).
However there were provisions to use the APG-68 as the J/APG-1 was in development at the time and if it wasn’t ready by the time they were testing the XF-2A then APG-68 would have been used.
In other words, it’s an option Gaijin can leverage if they want to avoid AESA.

I really don’t see the point in the dutch Leo 2s tbh. The 2A6 (especially the 2A6NL) would be pretty meh, nothing that makes France meta. Maybe this is one of those additions that becomes useful in 2 years when it brings a 2A8?
