Except in today’s US doctrine there are no new dedicated CAS platforms anymore, the F-15E multi role strike fighter replaces the other USAF’s dedicated strike fighters, this is what’s happening with the whole F-35 replacing the A-10 situation.

Well yeah it can carry 22 missiles for transport or whatever but FCS prob can’t allow for more than 12 being used
So since F-111 got the fighter designation means it should be moved into F-15 line?

The f-16c is a light multirole fighter with signficant a2g capability but it still followed the light fighter line, the f-14b also has a signficant a2g capability (for its time) and still followed the f-14a. It would only mess the tree up if it got added other than below the f-15c
