It doesn’t mean it won’t, either.
Why wouldn’t German Typhoons get them?
Early Typhoons only used AIM-9L/Ms and equivalents, so it’s not like they’d be overpowered once ARH missiles are added, either.
Well. He was making the argument that Italian F-16ADFs shouldnt get Aim-9L/i because they are a German Modification of a US missile and that italy has “stolen too much”.
So as Germany has nothing to do with Meteor, Storm Shadow, Brimstones, etc. Then surely that means German Typhoons would be limited to German made weapons, which would mean IRIS-T only I think
Ah, I see. I should have look at the entire context of the statement.
yeah it was very dumb lol but also funny
Yep, their main strength is 10-12 hardpoints (2 could be limited to fuel tanks only. I’d have no immediate issues with that) and their overall flight performance. But from what i’ve seen of the 4K/Gripen C and its not much i’ll be honest. We are very very close to aircraft of similar performance to the Typhoon.
Especially when Id expect an early Typhoon, maybe even Prototype Typhoon with the Tornado Engines and missing some of its kits. It would be a strong 12.7 or an average 13.0 by my reckoning
My bad, I should have clarified, I don’t expect Typhoon to come until US and Russia gets AESA level radars because Eurofighters sensors all would add up to have similar level of parity.
Eurofignter’s built in MAWS, low observable stealth, IRST/TV pod, and Captor mechanical radar would put it on par with US/RU who would have none of the aforementioned technology besides IRST for Russia. They’d make up for it with AESA radar.
And I am expecting them to get something very much akin to that by March/June.
I’m expecting early Typhoons (either early as in early production or pre-production/prototype) in either the June or September update, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the December update introduced AESA radars at the rate we’re going.
Except we’d be getting our first fox 3 variants by then. The level of radar tech and fox 3 technology would be mismatched. AESA radar with AIM-120A.
russia would get PESA radar most likely but also god no if they get PESA and AESA we would get a tranche 2 EFT most of the systems on the tranche 1 wouldn’t be modelled
I have two questions for all you radar nerds here: how do AESA and PESA radars detect targets, and how do they lock onto them?
Not necessarily. MICA, R-77 and PL-12 are apparently more akin to Aim-120Cs (at least that is what I’ve seen discussed). So they might just do a round of Aim-120Bs for very early aircraft like FA2, AV-8B, etc in March, and then maybe Cs with AESA in June. Its impossible to know. But 3 nations will need Typhoon, 1 Will need Rafale and 1 will need Gripen E at some point. 5 nations cant go an entire year with absolutely nothing to replace the top tiers they’ve gotten this year (which for italy was actually last year) just because 2 nations need better than them to be “fair”
We know that the J-8F will get PL-12s with the first ARH missiles.
Yep
If it looks stupid and it sound stupid but works, it isn’t stupid. Thank you for that.
What’s the difference between AESA and PESA?
