Macchi C.200 prototype (M.M. 336) camo.

History.

In 1936, with a request from the Italian Ministry of Aeronautics for a new monoplane fighter, the Aeronautica Macchi, a famous manufacturer of racing aircraft and a few warplanes, entrusted the construction of the aircraft to engineer Mario Castoldi (famous for his Macchi C.72 racing aircraft). Within a short time, Castoldi succeeded in designing and having the first prototype of the aeeo, named Macchi C.200 and with the military number plate MM.336, which was then flown for the first time, at the Campo della Promessa in Lonate Pozzolo, on 24 December 1937 at the controls of test pilot Giuseppe Burei.

The basic colour scheme of the aircraft, common for prototypes of the time, was maintained until the last example that could be defined as pre-series, i.e. made before the official order from the Ministry of Aeronautics.

The camo.

The aircraft had no colouring apart from the metal colour that could appear, under certain light, as white. Light problems aside, the aircraft presented a light grey colour (called Alluminio) [FS.595B 17178].

Personally dont usually prefer the unpainted camos, but this one looks great. Anything for more camouflage on Italian aircraft
