M7 Priest (Early Production)

Hello everybody. I’d like to suggest the M7 Priest, Early Production Model, for the US ground vehicles tech tree in War Thunder. The reason for this suggestion is straightforward: one of the most iconic American self-propelled howitzers is currently absent from the game. This suggestion addresses that.

Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion! 😃

+1 I’ve said this to death, but I need my WW2 Western Allied arty in-game.

+1 could be a nice folder addition

This could be a really nice bridge between the M3 GMC and M4A3 (105). If we get the experimental APHEBC round it would be perfect!

Do you know if the round was ever used?

a more balanced vehicle than the broken m4a3 105.

50,000 were produced though there’s no mention on wether they were used on towed guns, SPGs, or both (at least as far as I know)

By “early production” do you mean the M7B0 or a smaller division of vehicles? Huge +1 for the M7B0, M7B1 foldered under it, and M7B2 as perhaps a premium, though I don’t think there’s a need for four M7 variants.

It’s kind of like the “M7B0,” but that’s not the official designation. “Early production” refers to the first batches of M7s, which shared more commonality with the M3 Lee. Meanwhile, “late production” refers to the later batches, which had more in common with the M4 Sherman (not the M4A3 variant, though).

As for the 105mm APHEBC round, like WalletWorrier said, 50,000 experimental rounds were produced. These were issued for engineering and service tests and, as far as I know, never saw actual combat use. The round was fully compatible with any platform using the 105mm M2 & M2A1 howitzers, nevertheless.
