TL;DR: M48A5 with Marksman turret.

Hello, and welcome to my suggestion. Today I would like to present one of the last members of the Marksman family, but this time, it has it ties to the continent across the ocean.

Introducing

M48 Marksman

History

Following a worldwide market survey into the type of air defence system required to protect armoured and mechanised formations and units from the low-level fighter ground attack aircraft and the pop-up helicopter threat, in 1983 the Marconi Command and Control Systems commenced development of a prototype of the Marksman twin 35 mm anti-aircraft turret. The principal feature of the Marksman gun turret was that it was a completely self-contained turret, which can be fitted to any Main Battle Tank hull or large Armoured Personnel Carrier hull without modification. The first prototype was completed in 1984
with a turret of mild steel, while the second, fully armoured and equipped to production standard, was completed in 1985. Following the creation of the production standard turret, a series of tests, trials and demonstrations was carried out using a bunch of different tank hulls. M48A5 was one of the hulls used for tests and demonstrations. Fitting o this turret took place in 1986, followed by a series of trials. The turret failed to pick up interest of the British army, but was successfully sold to the Finnish army, where it was fitted into T-55 chassis.

Now its time to talk about the specifications.

Obviously there are far too many Marksman vehicles to all go to Britain, but depending on public opinion I could see the following if every one were to be implemented:

In British tree:
Centurion Marksman: GB, 8.0 (Slow, No APDS)
Vickers Marksman: GB, 8.0 (Fast, No APDS, Foldered under Centurion)
Chieftain Marksman: GB, 8.3 (Slow, APDS)
Challenger 1 Marksman: GB, 8.3 (Fast APDS, Foldered under Chieftain)

In other trees (battle rating based upon combination of varying chassis types and APDS or no APDS is up for debate)
Leopard 1 Marksman: Germany
M48A5 Marksman: USA
Magach Marksman: Israel
Type 59 Marksman: China
M60 Marksman: Saudi Arabia
T-55AM: Finland (Also known as ItPsv 90)
T-55: Russia (It’s only fair if everyone else gets one lol)

And yes, this is a very cluttered and terrible idea that will be very unpopular with most people,

And yet, apparently “damn near everything” wasn’t actually enough for the folks at Marconi…

I wanted the one with Abrams or T-55/T-62 hull more than the M48 ones lol

Just make a Marksman turret tech tree at this point. +1 though.

Eeh, i’m not exactly against it, but it feels extremely redundant to add another slow Marksman to the british tech tree.

Even the LATAM tree could have one of these.
At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow put it on a Sherman

Well unfortunately the AMX-30, T-62, Leopard 2, Abrams, and Osorio versions never manifested into a prototype, but I think it’s obvious that the Marksman was intended as a worldwide all-climate product.

All the Markmans you can have a line-up of just them, and people say the UK has nothing to do with these hulls(despite owning them.)

This is a very bad idea, and sets a bad precedent that shouldn’t be set in the first place.

The fact the US gets the Skink, something it had nothing to do with it and even rejected is already bad enough(and embolden them to demand everything that used a screw made in the US). There is no reason to start handing out vehicles based on British-owned hulls(the nation that made it has nothing to do with it at this point) willy nearly to nations that have nothing to do with it (they didn’t buy or test), unless you’re willing to let any vehicle go to whatever tree with no reason.

abrams would be fun

I only support the idea for very specific circumstances such as this one, because the hulls are pretty much the only difference between each vehicle and thus we couldn’t expect them all to fit in the British tree.

And of course my idea in general is purely theoretical, I don’t actually think that this is a good plan, I was simply brainstorming how each platform would fit in the current scope of the game.
