Out of the three tech tree US Patton tanks (M46, M47, M48A1): Which is the best? What is the best playstyle for each?
Also is the M48A1 worth getting? I really love the M46 and M47. The M48A1 seems like an up-armored slower M47 at a higher BR. Is it fun to play?

All are great and have different strengths and weaknesses
As long as you angle your hull with the M46 (and M47), conventional medium caliber AP shells will struggle to go through
In my experience at 7.0 the armor on M46 is inadequate. Most tanks at this BR can pen you frontally. For me it plays best as a flanker/skirmisher. It has the best mobility of all the Pattons. Getting in a situation where angling would help is rare.
M47 has very horrible hull corners as they are very round above and around the driver hatches. Makes angling difficult. It’s very fun for sniping so I use it for that
M47 is the best because you get the rangefinder of the M48 while retaining most of the speed as the M46

M46 is a highly mobile and well-armed MBT, flank and snipe with it or push aggressively. You’ve got decent armour but don’t rely on it especially against the Soviets as their APHE will one shot you.
M47 is similar to the M46 but with a massive upgrade in turret protection. Unfortunately the hull is still the same. This is IMO the worst of the hunch but still a pretty good all-around vehicle. Stay hull down as much as possible.
The M48 has massively improved protection but takes a hit in mobility. It’s a front and center main MBT, taking hits and dishing them back out. BUT! It is not a heavy tank so don’t depend on its armour! Honestly the worst part of the M48 is the APCR stock grind, but once spaded it’s may favourite Patton (excluding the M60A1 AOS which technically doesn’t count but is an incredible vehicle).
I would recommend getting the M48 if you enjoy the M103, it’s a great support vehicle and an excellent addition to the 7.7 lineup.
I think all are good in his recpective BRs. And with all you can do very good lineups.
M46 + T29/T95 and alot of good CAS.
M47 + T32 + M163.
M48 + m103 (T114).
The M46 is the best due to its he high mobility and lowest BR. It can fight Panthers in a downtier while having HEATFS and APHE in one gun.
