No, according to design docs M829A2 is designed to brute force through K-5 on weaker base armor arrays of T-72B model 85 and T-80U at closer ranges. T-84 could defeat it consistently but has a modified armor layout compared to T-80U.
M829A3 refined the anti-ERA system to the point that K-5 has minimal penetration reduction. Relikt was also known to the US at the time of M829A3 and should be considered to be countered slightly by M829A3.

I swear im upset the m1a2sepv3 isn’t getting its hull armour but i feel like everyone keeps treating the hull upgrade as some all powerful null void that will absorbs all rounds, which it isnt which is why im so confused about the resistance to adding another 200 mm of ke protection and like a couple hundred more ce protection.

… guys, how have you missed thst the m829a3 is also worse than the m829a2? It pens like… 4mm more at 10, 500, and less at 1000 and 2000.
And its angled performance is worse. Unless they fixed it, but the m829a3 is a trash round from what I see.

The M1A1 appears to be the vehicle they are testing these changes on, not any of the new vehicles. Though this is very WIP it is evident they are working on it. It appears they are working on the turret ring, gun rotor, fuel cell bulkheads, and hull armor. I hope we see even more fixes as the dev server comes along.

Bit odd that they chose to not state any of this imo, but very interesting, does the M1A1 have any new shells, maybe the M829A3 we see is just a placeholder since, as it stands, its significantly worse than M829A2

If you manage to find my comments above, the M829A3 is actually better. For one thing, it actually does offer an improvement on penetrating Contact-5 equipped vehicles. But the biggest thing about this round is its mass, it is 6.5kg versus 4.8kg of the M829A2… in my testing it does significantly more damage.
Its normal penetration performance is about the same though, you’re right. I do think it should be more, and it potentially is still WIP.

Iirc ranged and angle performance are worse for the 4mm of extra pen in close range, and K-5 doesnt mean much since both rounds can ufp a T80UD
And I guess they didn’t state any of this because it is not finished? I find it a bit odd too… I think everyone’s initial reactions (including mine) would have been much less harsh if introduced to these new variants with an explanation about their work to improve the model of the vehicle.

Ill still wait a few days, dev servers usually last a week or so, maybe near the middle of june we can see the true goals for NATO armor unfold a bit more, so for once, im willing to be patient with gaijin

Like I said, it’s definitely better from my testing. The damage consistency far outweighs the microscopic changes in penetration. There are very few situations the M829A3 wouldn’t be able to penetrate something the A2 could not. I’m not saying it shouldn’t be better than it is now, but it is an improvement over the A2

Since October 1st. But I guess I am a Russian main.
That is blatantly wrong. It has some of the worst acceleration (only “beaten” by Black Night) and is tied for worst top speed.
These are significant issues and are not just a “deal with it”.
Being limited from playing MANY good positions is a huge flaw.
Wow I haven’t heard people say T-90M is unkillable in a while. Learn to aim.
You never bothered to check if I even played anything other than Russia. Maybe use your head next time. I have top tier in every, single, nation.

Currently (has been around for 4-5 years) the lower plate can eat the spall of entire rounds.
The LFP sides and RHA fuel tank inserts are a black hole.

Isnt that because theres RHA liners that are nearly 90degrees? So when you shoot at those plates the shell bounces off and disappears. That’s why it acts like a black hole.
