M1A2 SEPv3 Tank's Front Armor

What issue do you have with the US government, because I happen to be in the USAF.

Just to clarify, by doubled you mean those bags or what?

I’m living just fine.

the underperforming side era in question:

Abrams front armor already discussed in Frontal Armor of M1 Abrams Series - Machinery of War Discussion / Ground Vehicle - War Thunder — official forum
like 2 years ago

theres also this video where at 22:37 they mention the driver area being noticeably shorter than on the M1A1 due to added armor (I believe this is discussing a SEPv3 given the tow hitches visible on the tank and some of the other features mentioned)

Bags, or in the case of others just doubled up behind the plates.

ERA didn’t do that, the hyper-angled plate prior to the ERA did that.
The ERA did some more stuff, but it didn’t cause that.

ERA isn’t here:

Bags do not contribute to KE protection and ther is no double plates behind, it’s just single pate with rubber buffer behind.

@Norm_Von_Dolbit
So you’ve never hit X-Ray in-game… got it.
Just go do that.

The thing that shows in X-ray are explosive charges, they do not represent ERA system as a whole.
Those two plates are the things that are being thrown.

The thing you see in X-ray is this:

It is simply explosive charge.

For gods sake this has already been discussed. They aren’t buffing the lfp of the Abrams if they wanted, they would’ve done so already.

@Norm_Von_Dolbit

That… is not how English works.
The X-Ray of the T-90M’s side ERA will show 2 ERA plates behind that 1.1x RHA High Hardness plate.

The ERA that you call “charges” is the ERA, housings are not ERA.

Because you purposefully excluded the important continuation of that phrase:

ERA is a system, charges are a part of the system.

Housings are literally plates that are thrown by explosion to disrupt penetrator. If explosive charges were the entire ERA they literally woudn’t had enough space to move or they would have to waste most of their energy to rip off and move housing.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

yes they have quite clearly bent the facts to justify not buffing its LFP, on the argument that the armor dimensions did not change

however this is presenting evidence that the armor dimensions did change and got significantly thicker (~150-200mm increase which is a 25-30% increase over the in game dimensions)

Dude

Remember, any time someone says it will end in 3 days, 3 weeks, or in spring.
It never ends. More or less due to bureaucratic stuff.
Part of this is dark humor, Forum Staff, so if you do remove it, fine by me; someone got a chuckle. Which is all that matters.

That was after the steel plate changed the trajectory, thus not the ERA itself.

The round wouldn’t have hit the ERA at all without the high-angled hit on the steel plate changing the trajectory.

???

It literally destabilized on the era, as you can clearly see by it being activated, even if the hitcam desyncs it to uzbekistan.

The ERA auto-destablizes and its hitbox extends outside of the visual plate, the other plating does not cause this.

This plate is part of ERA. Also passive armor in this game doesn’t destabilize rounds.

As you can see there was no direct hit and it is not damaged by spall.
