I cannot say it more emphatically, the SEP onward received a 30-40% increase in its LFP armor with the DU inserts it received. All the documents from congressional reports up to the US Army website state as such. Gaijin is being criminally lazy in not implementing the appropriate upgrades to vehicles they add.

I have submitted (I think resubmitted what was already bug reported ages ago), that at least from the M1A2 through to the M1A2 SEPv2 that the turret side armour is meant to perform 250% better against CE.

The whole Abrams situation is just… sad.
M1A2 SEPv2’s armor is a copy-paste of M1A2 SEP’s, which is a copy-paste of M1A2’s.
M1A2 SEPv2, M1A2 SEP and M1A1 AIM get rejected their armor improvements constantly rejected because not even a million sources put together are good enough, apparently.
In short; M1A2 SEPv2 and M1A2 SEP are only M1A2 SEPv2 and M1A2 SEP in name.

There was slide from a tank Integration class we got before an ITX about 7 years ago that showed the M1A1 FEP not being able to penetrate itself on the whole frontal arc with M829A3. This should be the same base armor scheme of the SEPv2.
Idk if it’s still FOUO but reaching out to guy who got the M1A1 FEP passed to developers might yield something, as he could still have the slides. He was an armor officer who helped develop the FEP upgrade.

Just a follow up, even though it shouldn’t be a major change, the bug report for the turret side armour has been acknowledged, so we will have to wait and see if anything changes.

They reopened the bug report again. Asking for more sources regarding DU hull armor.
Guess I’m going to spend parts of my weekend searching for that.

Don’t know if this has already been used but i found a pretty reliable looking source stating that compared to the normal M1A2, the sepV2 received “Survivability enhancements including next evolution armor”. Though I don’t know how this would be interpreted by the mods and devs, it does show that the sepv2 being a copy paste of the normal M1A2 in terms of armor is complete bs.

No, there are explicit mentions of DU being in the hull on later models. Here is one document that says it would require taking the hulls apart to introduce the updated NBC and armor modules when updating from M1 to M1A2 standards.:

“This option would include a program to convert the oldest Abrams
tanks—the Mls–to the M1A2 configuration. Such a modification would entail
replacing the entire turret, including the gun; installing new electro-optics;
modifying the hull so that it can accept the active nuclear, biological, and
chemical (NBC) protective system; and replacing the armor packages and the
entire electrical system.”
