M1A1SA-UKR Abrams from the Ukrainian Army 47th Mechanized Brigade. This Abrams has been extensively modified with add-on Soviet era Kontakt-1 ERA tiles supplementing the M19 ARAT-1 blocks and covering 80% of the vehicle’s surface. A rubber screen has also been bolted to the front hull plate similar to the T-80, and the turret is fitted with a folding net screen that works similar to the top on a convertible car to offer some protection against fpv drones and loitering munitions. An Abrams with Kontak-1 looks wierd to me, but I kind of like it.
This Abrams is even worse than the ones in the game, I want to remind you that the armor in the UKR is much worse than even in the Abrams that the US allies use
Currently all Abrams in game are modeled with export armor packages, this would actually improve the armor (since Gaijin refuses to model DU in the turret and hull).
Better than ARAT too KE wise, (or if we are including individual ARAT 2 blocks, those are the worst ERA panels in game at 185mm CE) since ARAT only provides 4mm of structural steel which barely adds anything to the protection at angles, yet, even though K1 says it’s only provides 5mm of protection, it in practice provides vastly more than that at all angles, at 80 + degrees like this I could see it providing up to 60mm of additional KE protection which would be incredible.
Would actually almost be enough to make the UFP of the M1’s a non pen to most darts which is funny.
Still F to Blazer and it’s 260mm of protection vs even K1 which provides 400. That and its still funny to me that even modern NATO ERA like the ERA found on the Gal Batash only provide 370mm of CE protection, while being more modern than K1 by a large margin.
There’s a BRL proposal for improved hull armor that increased protection by 35% in KE and 25% in CE. We don’t know 100% if it used DU, but it was listed out in the section of the BRL report about heavy armor (DU).
