Currently, ingame, M1A1 AIM uses KE-W instead of KE-W A2.
However, it should use KE-W A2, as it’s the shell Australia operates, and not KE-W.
Now that KE-W A2 is being implemented with M1A2T, there’s no historical, gameplay or balance reason not to give it to M1A1 AIM for a more faithful depiction of the vehicle. Both M1A1HCs and M1A2 already have M829A2 (its analogue) at the same Battle Rating while having better armor and CITV, in M1A2’s case.
Bug report with all of the sources proving Australia operates KE-W A2, and not KE-W:

Why do you want the M1A1 AIM to be 12.7?
It’s fine with its other correct shell.
M1A2 being under-BR’d isn’t a reason to change the BR of M1A1 AIM.

M1A2 has M829A2 with CITV and better armor and it’s 12.0, just like AIM.
At the present time, AIM is just a worse M1A2 at the same BR.
“Its other correct shell”? It is no correct shell at all. Australia never touched KE-W, only KE-W A2, now present ingame with M1A2T.
All of the 12.0 and 12.7 Abramses are practically identical anyway, except for AIM’s firepower being gimped.
If M1A2 can be 12.0 with M829A2, so can M1A1 AIM with KE-W A2; and if it warrants it going up to 12.3, so be it, then. But there’s objectively no reason at all why this tank shouldn’t be a more faithful and accurate depiction of its real life self. It’s already missing the improved hull armor the Australian government itself states it to have; at least allow it to have its real firepower.

As I said, M1A2 being under-BR’d doesn’t justify moving others up.
Demanding a shell to a vehicle whose competitor is 12.7 is demanding both to be 12.7.
The solution is to move the M1A2 up instead.

Oh, I forgot to mention that M1A1HCs ALSO have M829A2. And it’s also 12.0, just like AIM.
So… should the M1A1HCs also move up? And AIM remain ALL ALONE at 12.0, all just not to give it its real and historical shell?

A better take than two tanks that share all but CITV being 0.7 apart.
Removal of A2 from the HC would be best, but that can of worms was sadly opened despite opposition.
Wait for the next sepv3 then KEWA2 or even A3 could come
Also needs to go to the tree with the rest of our rubbish.

M1A1 HC has M829A2 at 12.0 :)))
Only different really is AIM has better thermals, but AIM doesnt have the IR spoofer so it balances out. KE-WA2 I believe is the export of M829A2, so it seems right it gets the round to stay consistent with other Abrams at the BR.
Most I could see is 12.3, dont know where you get 12.7 bro.

What a curious way to shift the subject from the M1A1 AIM to basically propose to nerf the M1A1 HC, which is entirely unrelated to the subject besides BR placement and round comparison.
Alvis showing his usual “care” on the US by literally asking for a nerf, lol.

What can I say, I think you already know my opinion on the M1 series current state (and so I think I know yours).
Any boost on performance any M1 can get is more than welcome imho. And it should arrive to the AIM.

it also needs to be put in the correct tree

Considering Gaijin’s —controversial— move on the M1A2T, it would only be fair for the brits to get a copy of the M1A1 AIM.
There are no longer any reasons to hold its exclusiveness on the US tree.

yea pretty much. it also comes with the benefit of giving a nation a permanent home for everything they have in game in a single tree rather than having to grind a whole second tree for one vehicle.
Also dont think vehicles that were exported should have exclusivity to one tree at all. provided the main tree has a near identical one already or get an “export” variant there shouldnt be any issues.

IF both have it im fine, but lowkey every match is going to start being abrams v abrams, leopard v leopard which isnt fun.
the leopard 2 spam is when it goes too damn far.
Abrams can only go to britain through australia, taiwan and america so is thankfully limited.
Im just looking forward to china mains proving the abrams to actually be a brilliant MBT and showing up america mains as trash players

Hmm, idk i think the Saudi or Egyptian Abrams could go to England but the ausies can go to the US. AS long as canada goes to england i think its a fair trade.
saudi should go to america as they dont have a subtree.
Egypt was last a british colony so i guess… but realistically should also go to the US
Challenger could possibly go to another tree through oman but that would most likley end up in britain as where else can you put this stuff?
