M18 Hellcats are too fast, need a nerf

I noticed that everyone spams out M18’s again, since its mobility got boosted (even more). They’re so incredibly fast and mobile, they just completly bust the game mechanics of a tank game like this one.

They’re driving circles around most tanks. Spread out over the maps and occuply ludicrously unfair spots in no time. Zoom up hills and camp where you never expect a tank to be. And finally, since the game is more or less cap point dependent to win, a team stacked with M18 takes all caps just too quickly. In a average 3 cap match all 3 caps start blinking red after a mere minute. They’re too fast for current game mechanic and map sizes at its BR. Dunno, when I test drive them it feels even more mobile than a MBT and with that good gun handling you can play it like you’d do it in a team deathmatch shooter…

That’s why it was uptiered to 6.0 to coincide with the engine power buff.

It already got uptiered to 6.0, so I think that’s fine

It’s just funny to me that whenever the topic of how to deal with a heavy tank comes up, people always say the usual “just flank bro”, and then there’s a vehicle which specialises at exactly that, and everyone complains. Maybe for some people it’s not a matter of “just flank bro” but more “I want you to just sit in front of my heavy tank and not be able to do anything while I kill you”

Thats happend when you destroy all long range combat maps/spots and dont stop add trash urban rat mazes where most fot he heavies and mediums are useless.
Is just Gaijin ruining mid ranks again.
Avoid 5.0 to 8.0 right now is just a stupid mess.

Lol nuh uh. It was literally created to fill a request for a fast and hard hitting tank destroyer to fit US armored doctrine in WW2…

As compared to having medium and heavy tanks, not to mention some of the crazy armoured TD’s having these spots later in the match??😂

It’s probably because it is. I mean if you look at the power to weight ratio it’s about middle of the pack compared to modern MBT’s. It’s basically just a tin foil tractor with a 400 HP engine and a 76MM gun…

When it slides around corners in a CQC setting its acually faster than my turret traverse + tank turning ability combined. I can’t track it. Sigh. It breaks the game.

That was quite literally one of the main points of the TD they needed. They wanted it to be able to flank tiger’s and panther’s and be able to hit them and get out of the situation before the enemy could react/turn their turret to counter attack

Ok, this whole topic is useless and petty.
I can only say, the 15 Ps more for the Sd.Kfz.6/2 is working really well and i am happy for all those that enjoy their vehicles more.

m18s are fine as is. it’s already at 6.0 so yeah.

What? Heavies are the most useful in cities for War Thunder.
Heavies do well in CQC and at range.
And mediums do about their effectiveness at all their ranges.
Lights are most useful in open environments, and do okay in cities.
5.0 - 8.0 is easy mode, especially for heavy tank players.

Mate, the M18 is still underperforming significantly, it should have 96 km/h forward speed and 32 km/h reverse

they going up to 6.0 soon so yeah. and they are not too fast imo.
